Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Shine" written by Andreas Grass, Nikola Paryla, Natália Kelly and Alexander Kahr. The song was performed by Natália Kelly. The Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) organised the national final ''Österreich rockt den Song Contest'' in order to select the Austrian entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. Five songs competed in a televised show where an international jury panel and a public vote selected "Shine" performed by Natália Kelly as the winner. Austria was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 14 May 2013. Performing as the opening entry for the show in position 1, "Shine" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Natália Kelly
Natália Kelly (born December 18, 1994) is an American-Austrian singer. She currently resides in Bad Vöslau, Lower Austria. Kelly represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, with the song " Shine". Biography 2000-04: Early life Kelly was born in Hartford, Connecticut, United States, the daughter of an American businessman with Austrian and Irish roots and a Brazilian mother. She moved to Austria from the US at the age of six in 2000. Kelly started from an early age with music. In 2004, at the age of ten, she was a member of the children's opera in the production of ''In 80 Tagen um die Welt'' (Around the World in 80 Days) at the Baden state theatre. Melkweg (Dutch for "Milky Way") is a popular music venue and cultural centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located on Lijnbaansgracht, near Leidseplein, a prime nightlife square of Amsterdam. It is housed in a former dairy and is divided into a number of spaces of varying sizes.
