Shine (De Toppers Song)
The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Shine" written by Bas van den Heuvel and Gordon Heuckeroth. The song was performed by the group De Toppers, which was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) to represent the Netherlands at the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. De Toppers' appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 19 September 2008, while the national final ''Nationaal Songfestival 2009'' was organised in order to select the song. Six songs competed in the national final on 1 February 2009 where "Shine" was selected as the winning song following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public vote. De Toppers
De Toppers (), also known internationally as the Toppers, is a Dutch supergroup, consisting of René Froger, Gerard Joling, Jeroen van der Boom and Jan Smit. Gordon Heuckeroth, one of the founding members, left the group in 2011. The group has performed a series of concerts every year since 2005 in the Johan Cruyff Arena. Their repertoire consists mainly of a mix of covers and original material. ''Toppers in Concert'', with more than 40 sold-out shows, is the longest running concert series in the Benelux. In 2008, the Toppers were selected to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 held in Moscow, Russia, with the song " Shine". They failed to qualify for the final. The Eurovision Song Contest 1968 was the 13th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Jack van Gelder (; born 27 December 1950) is a Dutch sport commentator and television presenter. He presented many sports television programs of the broadcasting organization NOS, including '' NOS Studio Sportzomer'', '' NOS Studio Voetbal'' and '' NOS Langs de Lijn'', for forty years. Hyves was a Social network service, social networking site in the Netherlands with mainly Dutch people, Dutch visitors and members, where it competed with sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Hyves was founded in 2004 by Raymond Spanjar and Floris Rost van Tonningen. The service was available in both Dutch language, Dutch and English language, English. The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song "One More Night" written by Tjeerd van Zanen and Alan Michael. The song was performed by Esther Hart. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in 2002 as one of the bottom six countries in the 2001 contest. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1988 The final was held on 23 March 1988 at the Congresgebouw in The Hague, hosted by Astrid Joosten. Gerard Jan Joling (born 29 April 1960) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. Known for his high tenor voice, he rose to fame in the late 1980s and released a string of singles including "Ticket to the Tropics" and "Love Is in Your Eyes".
