Shikva
"Shikva" ( ur, ; lit. ''Querulousness'' or ''Complain'' ) is a song by Pakistani recording artist Faakhir Mehmood from his fourth studio album '' Jee Chahay'' (2011). It was released in the Pakistan as a digital download in 2011 and revised addition in 2014. "Shikva" is a love-inspired balled that details the protagonist pleading with his lover to leave the drug addiction. The song was written by Prashant Vasal an Indian poet, while composed and produced by Fakhir himself and directed by Adnan Khandar. In 2011 release, song wasn't a hit, but 2014 version by Faakhir tops the chart, making one of the most successful singles by singer. At 3rd Annual Hum Awards ceremony, it was nominated for Best Music Single for Faakhir and Best Music Video for Adnan Khandar. 3rd Hum Awards
The 3rd Hum Awards ceremony, presented by the Hum Television Network and Entertainment Channel (HTNEC), sponsored by Servis and Telenor, honored the best in fashion, music and Hum Television Dramas of 2014 and took place on 9 April 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE at 8:30 p.m. UAE Standard Time and was televised on 23 May at 7:30 p.m. PST. During the ceremony, HTNEC presented Hum Awards in 25 categories along with 3 in honorary and 2 in special categories. However, due to conflicts of interest, the band split in 2000 and they all went to become solo artists. The band Awaz also consisted of well known musician Haroon. Early life and career Faakhir attended the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. During his university years, he met another young singer, Haroon. Together, they formed the band Awaz in 1992. Faakhir joined the band as a keyboardist and Asad Ahmed as a guitarist. After the band split in 2000, Faakhir embarked on a solo career. Faakhir started working on his album ''Aatish'' in July 2000 by releasing his first single in August, a national song "Dil Na Lagay, Pakistan". Drug Addiction In Pakistan
Incidence of drug addiction (defined as compulsive and out-of-control drug use, despite negative consequences) has greatly increased in Pakistan over the last few decades. Most of the illegal drugs come from neighbouring Afghanistan. According to UN estimates, a few million people in the country are drug users. Cannabis is the most used drug. The rate of injection drug abuse has also increased significantly in Pakistan, sparking fears of an HIV epidemic. A 2013 report on drugs by the United Nations Office On Drugs And Crime (UNODC) stated that almost 6.7 million people are taking drugs in Pakistan. The report also revealed that people from the age of 15 to 64 use prescription drugs for non-medical purposes. Despite the alarming increase, governmental response has been minimal.
