Sherwood railway station is located on the Main line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Sherwood. History Sherwood station opened on 5 October 1874 as Oxley West as the interim terminus of the Main line from Ipswich. It was extended to Oxley Point on 4 February 1875. It was renamed to Sherwood in May 1878. The line through Indooroopilly was duplicated in June 1886. The station was rebuilt in 1960 as part of the quadruplication of the line. Sherwood is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Sherwood had a population of 5,313 people. Geography Sherwood is south west of the Brisbane CBD and bounded by the median of the Brisbane River towards the west. Oxley Road is the main thoroughfare through the suburb, entering from the north ( Graceville) and exiting to the south (Corinda). The Ipswich railway line runs parallel to and west of Oxley Avenue, with the suburb served by Sherwood railway station (). The suburb is mostly low and medium-density housing with a retail strip centred along Sherwood Road. History West Oxley State School opened on 25 March 1867. It was renamed Sherwood State School in 1878. The first head teacher was Major William Jenyns Boyd. He was born in Paris in 1842 and migrated to Australia in 1862. Nambour railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Nambour in the Sunshine Coast Region. History On 16 December 1963, the present station building was opened by Minister for Transport Gordon Chalk. On 11 August 1988, a bus station was opened outside the station by Minister for Transport Ivan Gibbs. South of the station lie stabling sidings for electric multiple units. Doomben railway station is the terminal station of the Pinkenba line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Ascot adjacent to Doomben Racecourse. History The Pinkenba line opened on 1 April 1897 to Pinkenba. A station for Doomben Racecourse was opened in 1909 alongside the Nudgee Road level crossing, and in 1976 a new station named Whinstanes-Doomben opened slightly farther east; Whinstanes was the name of the industrial branch line that crosses Kingsford Smith Drive to the Hamilton Cold Stores. The station was renamed Doomben when the line was electrified on 6 February 1988. Bowen Hills railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Bowen Hills. North of the station, the Ferny Grove line branches off. The station is one of four inner city stations that form a core corridor through the centre of Brisbane. History There have been three railways stations named Bowen Hills. The first from 1882 to 1889 was near Campbell Street. In 1890, a new station opened at the south end of the Abbotsford Road tunnel. Kippa-Ring railway station is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line and serves the suburb of Kippa-Ring in Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It features a park & ride facility and local bus stops. A stabling facility, capable of holding 10 six car trains, is located to the west of the station. It opened, together with the rail line, on 4 October 2016. Caboolture Railway Station
Caboolture railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the urban centre of Caboolture in the Moreton Bay Region. History Caboolture station opened in June 1889 as part of the extension of the North Coast Line from Petrie, which opened in March 1888. As part of the electrification of the line from Petrie, the existing station building was replaced and a new island platform built.
