Walter Sherborne "Sherry" Shourds Jr. (March 15, 1906 – February 13, 1991) was an American assistant director, Film director, director and Unit production manager, production manager who was a write-in nomination during the 8th Academy Awards for the short lived Academy Award for Best Assistant Director, Best Assistant Director category for ''A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935 film), A Midsummer Night's Dream'', which was also the 2nd and last year the Academy Awards allowed write-in votes. He also helped on the television show ''Bonanza''. ''I Confess'' is a 1953 American film noir directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and starring Montgomery Clift as Fr. Michael William Logan, a Catholic priest, Anne Baxter as Ruth Grandfort, and Karl Malden as Inspector Larrue. The film is based on a 1902 French play by Paul Anthelme titled ''Nos deux consciences'' (''Our Two Consciences''), which Hitchcock saw in the 1930s. The screenplay was written by George Tabori.
