Sheridan V News International
''Sheridan v News Group Newspapers'' (''Thomas Sheridan v News Group Newspapers Ltd'') is a civil court case brought by Tommy Sheridan against the publishers of the ''News of the World'', which began in the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Scotland, on 4 July 2006. He alleged that the ''News of the World'' defamed his character through a series of articles in their publication. Although Sheridan's case was upheld, he was later prosecuted for perjury for lies that he told the court and was subsequently convicted in ''HM Advocate v Sheridan and Sheridan''. Teetotalism is the practice or promotion of total personal abstinence from the psychoactive drug alcohol, specifically in alcoholic drinks. High Court Of Justiciary
The High Court of Justiciary is the supreme criminal court in Scotland. The High Court is both a trial court and a court of appeal. As a trial court, the High Court sits on circuit at Parliament House or in the adjacent former Sheriff Court building in the Old Town in Edinburgh, or in dedicated buildings in Glasgow and Aberdeen. Rosemary Byrne
Rosemary Byrne (born 3 March 1948, Irvine, North Ayrshire) is a Scottish politician who served as co-convenor of Solidarity from 2006 to 2019. Byrne was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the South of Scotland region from 2003 to 2007. She was elected as a Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) MSP but in September 2006, together with Tommy Sheridan, she left that party to form Solidarity. The ''Sunday Herald'' was a Scottish Sunday newspaper, published between 7 February 1999 and 2 September 2018. Originally a broadsheet, it was published in compact format from 20 November 2005. The paper was known for having combined a centre-left stance with support for Scottish devolution, and later Scottish independence. Lothian and Borders Police was the territorial police force for the Scottish council areas of the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, Scottish Borders and West Lothian between 1975 and 2013. Bob Bird is the former editor of the Scottish edition of the defunct ''News of the World'' tabloid. He is best known for the widespread media coverage over his role in two trials involving former Scottish MSP Tommy Sheridan: the 2006 Sheridan v News Group Newspapers defamation case and the 2010 HM Advocate v Sheridan and Sheridan perjury case. Catriona Grant
Catriona Mary Grant is a former co-chair and former women's officer of the Scottish Socialist Party. She was instrumental in the split from the CWI international which established the SSP during the "Scottish Debate" of the late-90s. She was the chair of the Edinburgh Old Town Community Council and an active member of Save Our Old Town. She is also an active campaigner for abortion rights against domestic abuse and sexual exploitation.
