Sherbourne, Warwickshire
Sherbourne is a village and civil parish in the Warwick district of Warwickshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 174. Geography and administration Sherbourne is 3 miles south of the county town Warwick and also borders Barford, Fulbrook, Snitterfield, Norton Lindsey and Budbrooke. The village is administered jointly with Barford and Wasperton, and as part of Warwick District. Landmarks Sherbourne's Victorian Gothic church ( All Saints) is a Grade II* Listed building, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, an eminent Victorian architect. The first stone was laid in August 1862, and the church was consecrated on 29 September 1864. Church contains a memorial plaque to Maudsley of the Dambusters Raid. Sherbourne (TTC)
Sherbourne is a subway station on the Bloor–Danforth line in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station, which opened in 1966, is located west of Sherbourne Street on the south side of Bloor Street East. The station primarily serves the St. James Town neighbourhood and the southern portion of Rosedale. Wi-Fi service is available at this station. In December 2021, this station became an accessible subway station after undergoing renovations that began in August 2019. Photo ID Centre Sherbourne Station houses the TTC Photo ID Centre. The TTC photographic team now visits most participating colleges and universities at the beginning of each academic year, and the post-secondary student monthly pass is now available only available via the Presto card and can be purchased from Presto fare vending machines located inside the station. River Sherbourne
The River Sherbourne is a river that flows under the centre of the city of Coventry, in the West Midlands, in England. The source of the river is in the fields near Hawkes End in the parish of Allesley. It flows for about 8 miles or 13 km in a generally southeastern direction. In the centre of Coventry it flows through Spon End (where it is spanned by Vignoles Bridge) and it is culverted just before it reaches the Inner Ring Road and Spon Street, and continues through the suburb of Whitley. It joins the River Sowe (a tributary of the River Avon) south of the A45 road near Baginton. The name Sherbourne is said to derive from ''Scir Burna'', "clear stream" in Old English. In 1935 and on eight more recent occasions, the upper Sherbourne around Allesley has dried up almost completely. Sherborne
Sherborne is a market town and civil parish in north west Dorset, in South West England. It is sited on the River Yeo, on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, east of Yeovil. The parish includes the hamlets of Nether Coombe and Lower Clatcombe. The A30 road, which connects London to Penzance, runs through the town. In the 2011 census the population of Sherborne parish and the two electoral wards was 9,523. 28.7% of the population is aged 65 or older. Sherborne's historic buildings include Sherborne Abbey, its manor house, independent schools, and two castles: the ruins of a 12th-century fortified palace and the 16th-century mansion known as Sherborne Castle built by Sir Walter Raleigh. Much of the old town, including the abbey and many medieval and Georgian buildings, is built from distinctive ochre-coloured ham stone. The town is served by Sherborne railway station. Stephen Ashley Sherbourne, Baron Sherbourne of Didsbury, (born 15 October 1945) is a British Conservative who was Political Secretary for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Chief of Staff to Conservative leader Michael Howard. He is currently a non-executive director of Smithfields Consultants. He was born in Manchester, and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (''PPE'') at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. He is known for his interest for liberal democracy and the free market. Sherburn Park was a baseball stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba, located at the corner of Sherburn Street at Portage Avenue, on the very same site as the former Happyland Park. It was the second home of the Winnipeg Maroons of the Northern League (baseball, 1902–71), Northern League. It had a seating capacity of 3,500. The baseball and lacrosse stadium opened on June 7,1924, with an initial lacrosse match between the Tamanny Tigers and the Fort Rouge Forts. Opening day attendance was 1,000 spectators. Incidents On August 27, 1936 during a baseball game between the Maroons and the Superior Blues, a fatal injury occurred when the baseball hit Blues' George Tkach's jaw. Sherbourne Conference Centre
The Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (formerly known as the Sherbourne Conference Centre) is a conference centre facility on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Owned by the government of Barbados and managed by the government agency Barbados Conference Services Limited (BCSL), the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre is just outside the capital city of Bridgetown, in St. Michael. Facility First opened in 1994, the building contains a total of over of meeting space and is made up of space which may be subdivided for smaller events of between 50 and 1200 persons (theatre style). When first constructed the building was considered too large by members of the opposition and construction on back portion of the facility halted just after a change in government. Many Calypsonians sung about the side of the facility (which contained a planned performing arts centre) as being "unfinished" or stating the facility had its "backside exposed".
