Sherab Zam
Sherab Zam (10 October 1983) is a Bhutanese archer. She competed at the Archery at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 Summer Olympics at the Archery at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's individual, Women's individual event. Also, she was selected to be Bhutan's flag-bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations, 2012 Summer Olympics. She is coached by Tshering Choden (archer), Tshering Chhoden who competed in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics in the archery competition. The duo trained for several weeks in the Netherlands, as part of a Dutch-Bhutanese exchange program. In the 2012 Olympic archery competition, Sherab was ranked 61st (out of 64 competitors). She was subsequently eliminated in the 1/32 round, in which she was beaten 0-6 by US archer Khatuna Lorig. Member of National Team since June 2005 till January 2014. Dagana District
Dagana District is a district located in Bhutan. Most of the district is populated by Dzongkha speakers. However, in the southwest part near the Sarpang District, Nepali language, Nepali is also spoken as a native language. Target Archery
Target archery is the most popular form of archery, in which members shoot at stationary circular targets at varying distances. All types of bow – longbow, barebow, recurve and compound – can be used. In Great Britain, imperial rounds, measured in yards, are still used for many tournaments and these have slightly different rules to metric (WA) rounds, which are used internationally. Archery At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The archery events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held over an eight-day period from 27 July to 3 August. Four events took place, all being staged at Lord's Cricket Ground in front of temporary stands built to accommodate up to 6,500 spectators. South Korea was the most successful nation, topping the medal table with three golds and four medals in total. Competition format A total of 128 athletes competed across the four events: the men's individual, women's individual, men's team, and women's team. All four events were recurve archery events, held under the FITA-approved 70-metre distance and rules. The competition started with an initial ranking round involving all 64 archers of each gender. The women's individual archery event at the 2012 Olympic Games was held from 27 July to 2 August 2012 at Lord's Cricket Ground in London in the United Kingdom. The event was one of four which comprised the 2012 Olympic archery programme of sports and was the eleventh time the women's individual competition was contested as an Olympic event. Forty different nations qualified for the competition, sending a total of sixty-four archers to compete. The defending Olympic champion from 2008 was Zhang Juanjuan of China, who did not compete following her retirement in 2010. At the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations of the 2012 London Olympics, athletes and officials from each participating country paraded into the Olympic Stadium preceded by their national flag to the sound of iconic British modern music. Each flag bearer was chosen by each nation's National Olympic Committee or by the delegation of athletes. Tshering Choden (archer)
Tshering Choden (born 6 July 1980) is an archer from Bhutan who competed at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Choden entered the 2004 Summer Olympics with a world ranking of 176. She was one of two Bhutanese athletes taking part in the Games, the other being with fellow archer Tashi Peljor, and was selected as Bhutan's flagbearer for the Games' opening ceremony. Choden began the women's individual event with fifty-fourth place in the preliminary 72-arrow ranking round, scoring 600 points from 720. She delivered a surprise result in the opening elimination round with victory over China's Lin Sang by a margin of three points, becoming the first Bhutanese archer ever to win a match at the Olympics. Khatuna Lorig
Khatuna Lorig (; born January 1, 1974, as Khatuna Kvrivishvili, ka, ხათუნა ქვრივიშვილი) is a Georgian archer who immigrated to the United States. She has used at least 3 different last names while competing in and representing various different countries. * Khatuna Kvrivichvili, Soviet Union (part of the Unified Team) at Barcelona 1992.
