Carole Shepheard
Carole Marie Shepheard (born 6 November 1945) is a New Zealand artist. She specialises in printmaking and her work is held in national and international collections including the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. Education Shepheard studied at the University of Auckland Elam School of Fine Art in 1964–1967 (Honours in Stage Design) and 1998–2004, receiving a Doctorate of Fine Arts in 2004. Career A self-described feminist artist, Shepheard's work revolves around the re-interpretation of historical, domestic, and cultural objects. Through her prints she used symbols and images of the body in a consciously feminist way. Her use of materials draws on her feminist reflections on the role of women, specifically in the home. In her early years as an artist she concentrated on small-scale, often modular pieces, that utilised women's traditional arts, including stitching, quilting, batik, and weaving. Jonathan Shepheard (born 31 March 1981) is a former professional footballer who played in The Football League for Oxford United. Peter Shepheard
Sir Peter Faulkner Shepheard FRTPI FILA (11 November 1913 – 11 April 2002) was a British architect and landscape architect. Biography He was born in Oxton, Birkenhead and educated at Birkenhead School. His father was an architect. He also studied architecture at the Liverpool School of Architecture under Charles Reilly. He obtained a first-class degree in 1936 and won the graduate scholarship. From 1940 to 1943, he worked for the Ministry of Supply, working on the design and construction of arms factories under tight time pressure. In 1943, his godfather, Patrick Abercrombie, offered Shepheard a job on the Greater London Plan for the postwar development of London. Shepheard then worked for William Holford at the Ministry of Town and Country Planning, and became deputy chief architect for the Stevenage Development Corporation (1947–48). Samuel Shepheard (died 1748)
Samuel Shepheard (1677–1748), of Exning, Suffolk, near Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, was an English Tory politician who sat in the English House of Commons in 1701 and in the British House of Commons almost continually for forty years from 1708 to 1748. Shepheard was the second surviving son of Samuel Shepheard and his wife Mary Chamberlayne, daughter of Edward Chamberlayne of Princethorpe, Warwickshire. He was a director of the East India Company from 1717 to 1720. When his unmarried elder brother Francis died in 1739, he inherited his estate, including Exning House. Shepheard was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Malmesbury at the first general election in 1701 but did not stand again at the second. At the 1708 general election he was elected MP for Cambridge. His election was declared void on 9 February 1710 but he won the re-election on 22 February.
