Shemonaikha ( kk, Шемонаиха ауданы, ) is a Districts of Kazakhstan, district of East Kazakhstan Region in eastern Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is the town of Shemonaikha. Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions ( kk, облыстар/''oblystar''; singular: облыс/''oblys''; russian: области/''oblasti''; singular: область/''oblast). East Kazakhstan Region
East Kazakhstan Region ( kk, Шығыс Қазақстан облысы, translit=Şyğys Qazaqstan oblysy; russian: Восточно-Казахстанская область, Vostochno-Kazakhstanskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. It occupies the easternmost part of Kazakhstan, and includes parts of the Irtysh River, Lake Markakol, and Lake Zaysan. Its administrative center is Oskemen (also known as Ust'-Kamenogorsk). Shemonaikha
Shemonaikha ( kz, Шемонаиха, ''Şemonaiha''; russian: Шемонаиха) is a town in Shemonaikha District in East Kazakhstan Region of eastern Kazakhstan. It is located on the banks of the Uba River, a right tributary of the Irtysh River, Irtysh. Population: History Shemonaikha was founded in 1766 as the settlement of Shemonayevskoye. The name was derived from the name of the first settler. In 1896, it was the seat of Alexandrovskaya Volost, Tomsk Governorate, Alexandrovskaya Volost of Zmeinogorsky Uyezd, Tomsk Governorate. In 1917, Zmeinogorsky Uyezd was transferred to Altai Governorate. On June 13, 1921 the area was transferred to Semipalatinsk Governorate. An ''akim'' ( kk, әкім, әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ky, аким; russian: аким) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'', meaning "God will establish", is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor".
