Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner (born January 14, 2003) is an American professional football defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies and was selected by the Bears in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft. Early life Turner attended DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas. As a senior, he had 76 tackles and 12.5 sacks. Turner was selected to the 2021 Under Armour All-America game. He committed to Texas A&M University to play college football. College career In his first career collegiate game as a freshman at Texas A&M in 2021, Turner had four tackles and 1.5 sacks. For the season he had nine tackles over eight games. As a sophomore in 2022, he started 11 games and recorded 32 tackles and 0.5 sacks. As a 12-game starter his junior year in 2023, Turner had 33 tackles and six sacks. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. DeSoto, Texas
DeSoto is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. DeSoto is a suburb of Dallas and is part of the Best Southwest area, which includes DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and Lancaster. History The area was first settled in 1847, making it one of the oldest communities in North Texas. A post office was established in 1881, and the settlement was named DeSoto in honor of Thomas Hernando DeSoto Stewart, a doctor dedicated to the community. By 1885, DeSoto was home to around 120 people, a cotton gin, and a general store. Soon after, the population declined to below 50. In 1930, 97 people were living in the community, with several businesses. After World War II, DeSoto and surrounding areas began to grow.
