Sheldon Inn
The Sheldon Inn was a two-story apartment building located at 44134 Michigan Avenue, in Sheldon Corners in Canton Township, Michigan. It was built in 1825, and previously used as a single-family home and a travelers' inn. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It was demolished in 2021. History The Sheldon Inn was built by Timothy and Rachel Sheldon. The couple moved from Monroe County, New York, with all their possessions in a wagon. They had intended to settle further to the west, but when they camped for the night on the Chicago Road, two days from Detroit, they were impressed with the surrounding area and decided to settle there in Canton Township. On June 6, 1825, the couple purchased near their overnight camping spot, including the property on which this building now sits. The Sheldon Museum of Art is an art museum in the city of Lincoln, in the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. Previously called the University of Nebraska Art Galleries and later the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, the institution was renamed to Sheldon Museum of Art in 2008. The Sheldon Coin Grading Scale is a 70-point coin grading scale used in the numismatic assessment of a coin's quality. The American Numismatic Association based its ''Official ANA Grading Standards'' in large part on the Sheldon scale. The scale was created by William Herbert Sheldon. The Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge is a United States National Wildlife Refuge, national wildlife refuge on the northern border of the U.S. state of Nevada. A very small part extends northward into Oregon. Sheldon Lake is a reservoir in Sheldon Lake State Park (SLSP) located in Harris County approximately 16 mi. (26 km) northeast of downtown Houston, Texas. It is positioned within the San Jacinto River Basin, on Carpenters Bayou. It contains a variety of prairie and wetland habitats. There is a significant amount of aquatic vegetation in the lake, and populations of several species of fish are maintained for recreational fishing. Bird and nature watching are also popular activities around the lake. Mount Sheldon is a summit in Alaska, United States. Description Mount Sheldon is located in the Alaska Range and in Denali National Park and Preserve. It is situated northwest of Polychrome Mountain. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into tributaries of the Toklat River. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises nearly above the river in 1.7 mile (2.7 km). Climate Based on the Köppen climate classification, Mount Sheldon is located in a tundra climate zone with long, cold, snowy winters, and mild summers.
