Sheila Hudson
Dr. Sheila Ann Hudson (born June 30, 1967) is an American former track and field athlete and Olympian, ranked among the all-time greatest U.S. competitors in the women's triple jump. Throughout her career, she won nine U.S. triple jump titles, and set two world bests (World records before the event became an IAAF record event) and nine American records. She previously held the indoor American record in the women's triple jump (46-8.25) as well as the outdoor American record in women's triple jump (47-3.5) with a wind aided all-time best jump of 48-1.25. Hudson won the silver medal at the 1994 IAAF World Cup, finished eighth at the 1995 World Indoor Championships, tenth at the 1996 Olympic Games and fifth at the 1998 IAAF World Cup. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. San José City College (SJCC) is a public community college in San Jose, California. Founded in 1921, SJCC is located in the West San Jose neighborhood of Fruitdale. Athletics At The 1996 Summer Olympics – Women's Triple Jump
These are the official results of the Women's Triple Jump event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. There were a total number of 31 competitors, with one non-starter. It took 14.22m to get into the final. The key players from the previous year's world championships which had rewritten the record books were all in attendance. World record holder Inessa Kravets put out a long first jump, but it wasn't measured as it was ruled a foul. The first round leader was Ren Ruiping with a 14.30m. The only other jumper over 14 meters in the first round was Sheila Hudson at 14.02m. The second round advanced the distances significantly. Inna Lasovskaya jumped 14.98m to take a commanding lead. Athletics At The 1994 Goodwill Games
At the 1994 Goodwill Games, the athletics events were held in July at the Petrovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia. A total of 44 events were contested, of which 22 were by male and 22 by female athletes. The marathon event was dropped for the 1994 edition and racewalking events took place on the track, making the entire athletics programme a track and field-only affair. The United States won the most gold medals (18) in the athletics competition, but Russia had the greatest total medal haul, winning 41 medals, 10 of which were gold. Cuba, Great Britain and Kenya were the next best achievers in the medal count. The competition remained invitation-only and each event was contested in a single final format. The following are the national records in track and field in the United States. Some of the records are maintained by USA Track & Field (USATF). Outdoor times for track races between 200 meters to 10,000 meters are set on 400-meter unbanked tracks. Indoor marks are established on 200-meter tracks, banked or unbanked. 1995 USA Outdoor Track And Field Championships
The 1995 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships was organised by USA Track & Field and held from June 20 to 24 at Hughes Stadium, on the campus of Sacramento City College in Sacramento, California. The four-day competition served as the national championships in track and field for the United States and also the trials for the 1995 World Championships in Athletics in Gothenburg, Sweden. Athletes that finished in the top three of their event and held the IAAF qualifying standard were eligible to represent the United States at the 1995 World Championships. The United States was able to send three athletes per event to the competition, provided they all met the A qualification standard.
