Shehla Pervin
Shehla Pervin is an Indian-American breast cancer specialist. Biography Pervin obtained her Ph.D. in molecular biology from Jadavpur University in India. She received postdoctoral position at the University of Kentucky and in 2009 was hired by Charles Drew University as an assistant professor. In 2011 she was a guest editor for the Current Pharma Design Journal where she published numerous works regarding her study on breast cancer. Currently she is chairwoman of Radiation Safety Committee and a member of Research Academic Senate. Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, milk rejection, fluid coming from the nipple, a newly inverted nipple, or a red or scaly patch of skin. In those with distant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin. Risk factors for developing breast cancer include obesity, a lack of physical exercise, alcoholism, hormone replacement therapy during menopause, ionizing radiation, an early age at first menstruation, having children late in life or not at all, older age, having a prior history of breast cancer, and a family history of breast cancer. Molecular biology is the branch of biology that seeks to understand the molecular basis of biological activity in and between cells, including biomolecular synthesis, modification, mechanisms, and interactions. Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is a private historically black graduate school in Willowbrook, California.
