Sheenboro
Sheenboro is a village and municipality in the Outaouais region, part of the Pontiac Regional County Municipality, Quebec, Canada. It was formerly known as Sheen-Esher-Aberdeen-et-Malakoff. Its territory stretches along the north shore of the Ottawa River from Chichester to Rapides-des-Joachims. Because of its Irish heritage, Sheenboro retained the character of being a "Little Corner of Ireland". Primarily dependent on farming and logging, it is also a popular location for tourism, swelling its summer population up to 500 persons. The Fort William Trading Post (now Hotel Pontiac), including the factor's house and church, is a historical site and heritage village with a popular beach in the summer. Deep River, Ontario
Deep River is a town in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Located along the Ottawa River, it lies about north-west of Ottawa on the Trans-Canada Highway. Deep River is opposite the Laurentian Mountains and the Province of Quebec. The name ''Deep River'' purportedly derives from the fact that the Ottawa River reaches its greatest depth of just outside the township. Rapides-des-Joachims is a municipality and village in western Quebec, Canada, part of Pontiac County in the Outaouais region. The village is situated on Rapides-des-Joachims Island (''l'île de Rapides-des-Joachims'') on the Ottawa River, about 100 km northwest of Fort-Coulonge. It is also known as Swisha. Rapides-des-Joachims is isolated from the rest of Quebec's road network because the only paved road link to the village is through Rolphton, Ontario. It is the only community on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River between Sheenboro and Témiscaming. Pontiac (provincial Electoral District)
Pontiac is a provincial electoral district in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes parts of the city of Gatineau as well as the municipalities of Pontiac, Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Shawville and Clarendon. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1970. It disappeared in the 1973 election and its successor electoral district was Pontiac-Témiscamingue. John Siveright
John Siveright was a fur trader and later became Chief Factor of the Hudson's Bay Company. Born 2 December 1779 in Drumdelgy, Cairnie, Scotland, he was the son of John Siveright I and Jannet Glass. Siveright began in the fur trade with the New North West Company (sometimes known as the XY Company) on a seven-year contract in 1799. The New North West Company merged into the North West Company in 1804 he continued his service. By 1815, when he was at Fort La Reine (Portage la Prairie, Man.), he was cited by the Hudson’s Bay Company as part of a conspiracy by the NWC to destroy the Red River Colony. He was at Fort Gibraltar when Duncan Cameron was arrested and was charged as an accessory in the murder of Governor Robert Semple a short time later.
