Sheboygan South High School
Sheboygan South High School is a public coeducational high school serving approximately 1,335 students in grades 9-12. Located on the south side of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, it is part of the Sheboygan Area School District. The school has a rivalry with the cross-town Sheboygan North High School. History The school opened in 1960 in the midst of a population shift toward the south side of Sheboygan and the Town of Wilson. It was a replacement for the former Sheboygan Central High School (established in 1884 as Sheboygan High School, renamed to Central High School in 1938), located in the city's downtown, which is now the site of several charter and alternative programs. Sheboygan () is a city in and the county seat of Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 49,929 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 118,034. WSHS (91.7) is a student-run high school radio and public radio station operating on a non-commercial license in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Owned by the Sheboygan Area School District, the station's studio is located on the second floor of Sheboygan North High School on the city's north side, and the transmitter is located in the central courtyard of the North High building. An auxiliary studio is also located at Sheboygan South High School, though most programming originates out of North High. Roy Pirrung (born July 7, 1948) is an American ultramarathoner, Long-distance running, middle and long-distance runner, Early life Roy Pirrung was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on July 7, 1948. He graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1966, served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970 and worked at the Kohler Company from 1972 to 2007. Career His first race was a marathon at age 32 in 1981, shortly after he kicked a two-pack-a-day cigarette habit after he noticed an obese woman run by his home. In 1997, he was named Ultra Runner of the Year and in 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012 he was named the masters ultra runner of the year for his stellar seasons. Bill Schroeder (wide Receiver)
William Fredrich Schroeder (born January 9, 1971) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He attended Sheboygan South High School and then went on to the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where he starred in track and field. Schroeder joined the UW-La Crosse football team in only his fifth year of college after exhausting his eligibility to compete in track. Despite playing only one year, Schroeder's athleticism (4.26 second 40 yard dash and 44 inch vertical leap) drew the attention of NFL scouts. Schroeder was drafted in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He would wear jersey number 84.
