"Sheba" is a single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1980. It is from the album ''QE2''. In many countries the Shadows cover, "Wonderful Land", was the A-side, while the B-side was "Sheba". Vocals on "Sheba" were performed by Maggie Reilly, and drum parts were played by Phil Collins; Oldfield plays all other instruments. Maggie Reilly
Maggie Reilly (born 15 September 1956) is a Scottish singer best known for her collaborations with the composer and instrumentalist Mike Oldfield. Most notably, she performed lead vocals on the Oldfield songs " Family Man", "Moonlight Shadow", "To France", and "Foreign Affair", all of which were international hits in the early 1980s. Career Reilly first came to prominence as a member of the 1970s soul outfit Cado Belle (previously named Joe Cool) and released one album with them in 1976. She is best known for her collaborations with the composer Mike Oldfield between 1980 and 1984, especially by co-writing and performing the vocals on " Family Man" (and other tracks on the album ''Five Miles Out''), "Moonlight Shadow", "Foreign Affair", and "To France" (and other tracks on the album ''Discovery''). QE2 (album)
''QE2'' is the sixth studio album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1980 on Virgin Records. The album was named after the ocean liner ''Queen Elizabeth 2''. The album contained both original Oldfield compositions as well as two cover versions of pieces recorded by other bands (" Arrival" by ABBA and " Wonderful Land" by The Shadows). Though only reaching number twelve on the German album charts, the album became the best-selling album of 1981 in Germany. Album analysis The longest tracks on the album are "Taurus I" and the title track, "QE2", lasting 10 minutes and 7 minutes respectively. Some years later The Shadows responded to Oldfield's cover of "Wonderful Land", by releasing a cover of Oldfield's " Moonlight Shadow". The cover songs were released as singles.
