Nikolai Vladimirovich Shcherbachov (in Cyrillic, Никола́й Влади́мирович Щербачёв; 12 August ( N.S. 24 August) 1853 – 1 October 1922) was a Russian composer and pianist. Born in St. Petersburg, Shcherbachov was an uncle of fellow composer Vladimir Vladimirovich Shcherbachov, who was a second cousin of Andrei Vladimirovich Shcherbachov (1869–1916). Beginning in 1871 he was associated with " The Five" (or, more broadly, the Balakirev circle). He composed piano pieces, songs, and works for orchestra. Vladimir Shcherbachov
Vladimir Vladimirovich Shcherbachov (Shcherbachyov, Shcherbachev) (russian: Влади́мир Влади́мирович Щербачёв; 24 January 1889, in Warsaw – 5 March 1952, in Leningrad) was a Soviet composer. He studied with Maximilian Steinberg, Anatoly Lyadov, and Jāzeps Vītols (Joseph Wihtol) at the St. Petersburg Conservatory from 1908 to 1914. While there he also worked as a pianist for Sergey Diaghilev and taught theory. He served in World War I and then worked in Soviet government music positions. In 1918-1923 he worked as a lecturer and ran the musical department of the Narkompros. He later became a professor at the Leningrad Conservatory (1923-1931 and 1944-1948) and the Tbilisi Conservatory. He counted Boris Arapov, Vasily Velikanov, Evgeny Mravinsky, Valery Zhelobinsky, Gavriil Popov, Valerian Bogdanov-Berezovsky, Pyotr Ryazanov, and Mikhail Chulaki among his pupils, as well as various others. Lyubov Yanovska
Lyubov Yanovska (Любов Олександрівна Яновська; 1861–1933) was a Ukrainian writer and feminist. The daughter of Oleksandr Shcherbachov, a published author of Russian descent, and a Ukrainian mother, she was born Lyubov Shcherbachova in eastern Ukraine. Her mother's aunt was married to Panteleimon Kulish. Her parents separated due to tensions caused by their different ethnic backgrounds. In 1881, she married Vasyl Yanovsky, a Ukrainian intellectual, and educated herself on Ukrainian culture, literature and history. Her first short story was published in 1897. She also wrote novels and plays. In 1905, Yanovska moved to Kyiv, where she became involved in literary circles and the women's movement. Dmitry Grigoryevich Shcherbachev (russian: Дми́трий Григо́рьевич Щербачёв; tr. ; 18 January 1932) was a general in the Russian Army during World War I and one of the leaders of the White Movement during the Russian Civil War. Biography Early life Shcherbachev was born on (6th was according to the Julian calendar at use in Russia at the time) near Ruza, Moscow Governorate in the Russian Empire. He came from the Russian noble Shcherbachev family ( ru) which originated from the Golden Horde. His father was Major-General Grigory Dmitryevich Shcherbachev.
