Shay Motors Corporation
Shay Motors Corporation was an automobile company founded by Harry J. Shay in February 1978 as the Model A & Model T Motor Car Reproduction Corporation. Harry Shay arranged with Ford Motor Company to build a limited run, modern-day reproduction of the Ford Model A Roadster, with a rumble seat, that was to be sold through the network of Ford Automobile Dealers and built in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was hoped that displaying the vehicles in Ford dealer showrooms would increase potential customer visits and sales. History Design While having the outward appearance of the classic automobile, the reproduction was built with a fiberglass body and used a modern frame and powertrain. Wixom, Michigan
Wixom is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 13,498 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. Ford C4 Transmission
The Ford C4 is a three-speed, medium-duty automatic transmission introduced on 1964 model year vehicles and produced through 1981. The C4 was designed to be a lighter and simpler replacement for the original Ford-O-Matic two speed transmission being used in smaller, less powerful cars. Ford used the term "SelectShift" because in the first C4's, placing the gear selector in D2 forced the transmission to start in second gear and then shift to third gear. If the transmission was placed in D1, the transmission would start in first gear, then shift to second and third gear as normal. If the gear selector was placed into L, the transmission stayed in first gear only. The shifter display appeared as P-R-N-D2-D1-L.
