''Sharpshooters'' is a 1938 American adventure film directed by James Tinling and written by Robert Ellis and Helen Logan. The film stars Brian Donlevy, Lynn Bari, Wally Vernon, John 'Dusty' King, Douglass Dumbrille and C. Henry Gordon. The film was released on November 15, 1938, by 20th Century Fox. Plot Cameraman Steve Mitchell and his partner Waldo go to a mythical kingdom in Europe where three villains are plotting to take out the Prince, the villains think Steve is on their side when they hear him speak about "shooting" the coronation. James Tinling
James Tinling (May 8, 1889 in Seattle – May 14, 1967 in Los Angeles) was an American film director. He worked during the silent period as a prop boy and stuntman, and directed primarily for 20th Century Fox in the 1930s and 1940s. Martin Spellman IV (October 8, 1925 – May 6, 2020) was an American child actor active in films during the 1930s and 1940s. Career Martin Spellman IV was born in 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. After his family moved to California, at the age of 9 he first entered the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, MGM studios not as a prospective actor but as a newsboy. He became such a familiar figure at MGM that for Christmas 1937, they decided to give him a very special Christmas present. Clark Gable invited him to work as an extra for a few days on the film ''Test Pilot (film), Test Pilot'' where he had an uncredited role. After that, he played Skinny in the 1938 film ''Boys Town (film), Boys Town'', starring Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney. Hamilton MacFadden
Hamilton MacFadden (April 26, 1901 – January 1, 1977) was an American actor, screenwriter and film director. MacFadden's parents were Rev. Robert A. MacFadden and Edith Hamilton MacFadden. His father died in 1909, leaving his mother to support herself and four children. In 1928, she became the first woman to file papers to run for governor of Massachusetts. MacFadden was a 1925 graduate of Harvard University. Soon after graduating, he became producer of the American Theatre Company, which presented plays for 10 weeks in the Boston area. The project was backed by Michael Strange, a writer who made her professional stage debut in the productions. He also served as director of the Community Arts Association in Santa Barbara, California, and the Theatre Guild School of Acting in New York.
