Sharon Railway
Sharon Railway ( he, מסילת השרון, mesilat ha-šaron) is a 12 km double-track railroad in the Sharon plain area of Israel, located in the median of Highway 531. It serves as a connection between the Coastal Railway and the Eastern Railway and runs parallel to the Yarkon Railway which is located approximately 7km to the south. In the vicinity of Ra'anana South interchange (where Highway 531 meets Highway 4), the Sharon Railway passes through a 1.8km long tunnel. The construction of both the highway and the railway started in the early 2000s, and the first station on the new line, Kfar Saba–Nordau, opened on 13 April 2003. The second station, Hod Hasharon Sokolov, opened on 2 September 2006. Kfar Saba–Nordau Railway Station
Kfar Saba–Nordau railway station (also known as Kostyuk) is a passenger railway station located at the city boundary of Hod HaSharon, Israel and Kfar Saba, Israel. The station was opened on 13 April 2003 as the beginning of the new Sharon Railway. Eleven days later, on 24 April 2003, a suicide bomber approached the new train station and activated the bomb he was carrying, murdering Alexander Kostyuk, the security guard who had prompted him for identification, and wounding 13 others. The station was later named after Kostyuk who prevented the bomber from entering the station. Ra'anana
Ra'anana ( he, רַעֲנָנָּה, lit. "Fresh") is a city in the southern Sharon Plain of the Central District of Israel. It was founded in 1922 as an American-Jewish settlement, 1 km south of the village of Tabsur, where an important World War I battle had taken place four years previously. Bordered by Kfar Saba and Hod HaSharon on the east and Herzliya on the southwest, it had a population of in . While the majority of its residents are native-born Israeli Jews, a large part of the population consists of Jewish immigrants from the Americas and Europe. Highway 2 (, ''Kvish 2'') is an Israeli highway located on the coastal plain of the Mediterranean Sea. It begins as a major arterial road within Tel Aviv, becoming a freeway as it exits the city northward continuing to Haifa. Ra'anana South Railway Station
Ra'anana South railway station is an Israel Railways passenger station at the boundary between Ra'anana, Kfar Saba and Kfar Malal. It serves the residents of the southern Sharon region. The station is located on the Sharon Railway, in the center of the large interchange connecting highways 4 and 531. The addition of this station and its sister station Ra'anana West will reduce the travel time for Ra'anana and Kfar Saba residents to Tel-Aviv to approximately 11 minutes when the link via Herzliya railway station opens. The two stations were opened on 3 July 2018, and the link via Herzliya is scheduled to open in early 2020. The Sharon plain ( ''HaSharon Arabic: سهل شارون Sahel Sharon'') is the central section of the Israeli coastal plain. The plain lies between the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Samarian Hills, to the east. Highway 4 (Israel)
Highway 4 ( he, כּֽבִישׁ אַרְבַּע, ''Kvish Arba' '') is an Israeli highway that runs along Israel's entire Israeli Coastal Plain, coastal plain of the Mediterranean Sea, from the Rosh HaNikra Crossing, Rosh HaNikra border crossing with Lebanon in the Northern District (Israel), North to the Israeli Gaza Strip barrier#Erez Crossing, Erez Border Crossing with the Gaza Strip in the South. The highway follows in part the route of the ancient Via Maris. Yarkon Railway
The Yarkon Railway ( he, מסילת הירקון, Mesilat HaYarkon) is a double-track railroad following the course of the Yarkon River in the central area of Israel. It is about 15 km long, stretching from the Coastal Railway to the Eastern Railway. History The initial section of the Yarkon Railway was built in 1920–21 in response to a request from the Jewish settlers in Petah Tikva, who sought an improved means of transport for passengers and goods, mainly for shipping fruit picked from the citrus orchards around Petah Tikva to the ports of Jaffa (accessible via Lydda) or Haifa (accessible via Hadera) for export abroad.
