The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Haiti is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative to the Republic of Haiti. From 1913 to 1922, the head of mission in Cuba also served Haiti. The British Embassy in Port-au-Prince was closed in 1966 "for reasons of economy" and the High Commissioner to Jamaica in Kingston was appointed non-resident ambassador to Haiti. Responsibility for Haiti was transferred to the ambassador to the Dominican Republic in 1999. In June 2012 the British Foreign Secretary announced that the UK was to open a new embassy in Haiti. The new embassy was opened in June 2013, but until 2015 the ambassador to the Dominican Republic remained ambassador to Haiti, with a deputy head of mission in Port-au-Prince. Steven Fisher (born 1965) is a British diplomat who was British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and Haiti 2009–2015. Before that post he served as the Deputy Ambassador in Venezuela and Hungary. Early life and education Steven Fisher was born in Tiddington, Warwickshire, just outside Stratford. Steven attended Wadham College, Oxford, where he studied Modern History and French. After he graduated from Oxford University, he worked for Andersen Consulting for five years. Foreign and Commonwealth Office Steven joined the Foreign Office (FCO) in London in 1993 and worked in the European Union Department on a range of economic and trade related issues. His first overseas post came in 1995, when he was posted to Singapore. After working there for three years, he returned to London in August 1998. Mockbul Ali
Mockbul Ali, OBE (born 6 March 1981) is a British diplomat and the current British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Haiti. Early life Ali is of Bengali South Asian heritage and was born in the UK. He is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He later completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Defence Studies, and has a master's degree in international security and strategy from King's College London. Career Ali joined the then Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2002. He has held a number of roles in London, including as a policy adviser on the wider Muslim world. Ross Patrick Denny (born 1955) is a British diplomat who has been the British Ambassador to Costa Rica and Nicaragua since 2015. He was appointed as ambassador on 3 February 2015 and succeeded Sharon Campbell and Chris Campbell in September that year. Pre-consular career Before joining the Foreign Service, Denny served in the Royal Navy from 1972 until 1979. Consular career Denny joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1979 and first worked in the West Indies and Atlantic Department. Chris Campbell (diplomat)
Christopher John Campbell is a British diplomat who has served as the United Kingdom's ambassador to Ecuador since 13 October 2020. He also served as the ambassador to Nicaragua between 2011 and 2015 and the ambassador to the Dominican Republic between 2015 and 2020. Consular career Campbell joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1982 and started in the North America Department. In 1984, he moved to the Secretary of State's Private Office and the next year was placed to the UK Embassy in Khartoum as an economist.
