Sharon Brown (writer)
Sharon Brown (born 1946) is a Canadian writer living in British Columbia. She was born in Vancouver and lived with her family on Air Force bases in Canada, France and England. In 1993, she published ''Some Become Flowers'' describing the experience of caring for her dying mother at her home in Mission; the book received the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize. Brown and her family later moved to Roberts Creek. In 1997, she published a novel ''God is a Gun''. Mission, British Columbia
Mission is a city in the Lower Mainland of the province of British Columbia, Canada. It was originally incorporated as a district municipality in 1892, growing to include additional villages and rural areas over the years, adding the original Town of Mission City, long an independent core of the region, in 1969. It is situated on the north bank of the Fraser River, backing onto mountains and lakes overlooking the Central Fraser Valley southeast of Vancouver. Geography Unlike the other Fraser Valley municipalities, Mission is mostly forested upland with only small floodplains lining the shore of the Fraser River. Roberts Creek, British Columbia
Roberts Creek is a community in the Sunshine Coast region of British Columbia, Canada. It is located in Area "D" of the Sunshine Coast Regional District. Roberts Creek sits roughly halfway between the Town of Gibsons and the District of Sechelt, the two main population centres on the southern Sunshine Coast. History To the Indigenous peoples of both the Squamish and Shishalh, Roberts Creek served as the border between the two peoples. Due to the several creeks that drain into the Strait of Georgia which offer seasonal runs of salmon, the native peoples chose to settle in Roberts Creek many centuries prior to European settlers. Andreas Schroeder
Andreas Schroeder (b. , West Germany 26 November 1946) is a German-born Canadian poet, novelist, and nonfiction writer who lives in the small town of Roberts Creek, British Columbia. Career Schroeder is the author of some 23 books, including fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, translations and criticism. For many years he appeared on the CBC radio show '' Basic Black'' as its "resident crookologist", presenting a segment on some of the world's most outrageous and humorous crimes and criminals. He served a term as Chair of the Writers' Union of Canada (1976/77), at which time he took over the Union's crusade for Public Lending Right. When that program was finally achieved, in 1986, he became its founding Chair, and served as the Union's PLR representative on the Public Lending Right Commission until 2008.
