Sharbat (beverage)
Sharbat ( fa, شربت, ; also transliterated as ''shorbot'', ''šerbet'' or ''sherbet'') is a drink prepared from fruit or flower petals. It is a sweet cordial, and usually served chilled. It can be served in concentrated form and eaten with a spoon or diluted with water to create the drink. Popular ''sharbats'' are made of one or more of the following: basil seeds, rose water, fresh rose petals, sandalwood, ''bael'', hibiscus, lemon, orange, mango, pineapple, grape, ''falsa'' (''Grewia asiatica'') and chia seeds. ''Sharbat'' is common in homes of Iran, Turkey, Bosnia, Arab world, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India, and popularly consumed by Muslims when breaking their daily fast during the month of Ramadan. A South Indian version commonly called ''sarbbath'' is popular in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, regions wherein a specially made syrup of Indian sarsaparilla and lemon is dissolved in milk or soda water. Sharbat Ali Changezi
Air-Marshal Sharbat Ali Changezi (Urdu: شربت على ݘݩگݐڒی; b. 10 March 1932), , is a retired three-star air officer in the Pakistan Air Force and a former fighter pilot who led the aerial operations in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and 1971. In 1955, Changezi notably refused to meet the Afghan Monarch Zahir Shah, while he was on visit to Pakistan, because of the ill-treatment meted out to the Hazara people in Afghanistan. Career with the Airforce 1965 War service Changezi was involved in a dogfight with Indian warplanes over Lahore district in which he and his wingman shot down Indian planes. 1971 War service During the 1971 war, Changezi was the officer commanding of the No. 26 Squadron of the PAF flying F-86 Sabres. Sharbat Gula
Sharbat Gula ( ps, شربت ګله; born ) is an Afghan woman who became internationally recognized as the 12-year-old subject in ''Afghan Girl'', a 1984 portrait taken by American photojournalist Steve McCurry that was later published as the cover photograph for the June 1985 issue of ''National Geographic''. The portrait was shot at Nasir Bagh, Pakistan, while Gula was residing there as an Afghan refugee fleeing the Soviet–Afghan War. Despite the photograph's high global recognition, Gula's identity remained unknown until 2002, when her whereabouts were verified and she was photographed for the second time in her life. Having lived and raised a family in Pakistan for 35 years, Gula was arrested by Pakistani authorities in 2016 and subsequently deported to Afghanistan in 2017 on the charge of possessing forged identity documents. List Of Afghan Detainees At Guantanamo Bay
According to the United States Department of Defense, it held more than two hundred Afghan detainees in Guantanamo prior to May 15, 2006. They had been captured and classified as enemy combatants in warfare following the US and allies' invasion of Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban and disrupt terrorist networks. Originally, the US held such prisoners in sites in Afghanistan, but needed a facility to detain them where they could be interrogated. It opened the Guantanamo Bay detention camp on January 11, 2002, and transported the enemy combatants there. The United States Supreme Court's ruled in ''Rasul v. Bush'' (2004) that the detainees had the right of ''habeas corpus'' to challenge their detention under the US Constitution. That summer, the Department of Defense stopped transferring detained men to Guantanamo. On September 6, 2006, United States President George W.
