Shaq Calhoun
Deion Lenard "Shaq" Calhoun (born February 20, 1996) is an American football guard. He played college football for Mississippi State. College career Calhoun was a member of the Mississippi State Bulldogs for five seasons, redshirting his true freshman season. He played mostly as a reserve at guard as a redshirt freshman before becoming a starter the following season, starting nine games before suffering a season-ending injury. He was named second-team All-Southeastern Conference as a redshirt senior. Following his final season Calhoun was invited to participate in the 2019 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Professional career Miami Dolphins Calhoun signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2019. He made his NFL debut on September 15, 2019, against the New England Patriots. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style.
