__NOTOC__ Shannon Conservation Park (formerly the Shannon Conservation Reserve) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located on the Eyre Peninsula in the gazetted locality of Karkoo, South Australia, Karkoo about north of Port Lincoln, South Australia, Port Lincoln and about south of Lock, South Australia, Lock. It was proclaimed under the ''National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972'' in 2007 on land all in Section 100 of Lands administrative divisions of South Australia, the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Shannon which was previously dedicated as a Conservation reserves of South Australia, conservation reserve on 2 September 1993 under the ''Crown Lands Act 1929''. Karkoo, South Australia
Karkoo is a small rural centre located 20 km to the north of Cummins, South Australia, Cummins in the centre of Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. It is located in an agricultural district where the main economic activities are cereal growing (mainly wheat and barley) and sheep grazing, and most of the district's small population live on surrounding farms. The town of Karkoo itself has only a few residences and facilities, which include a district hall and Country Fire Service brigade.
