Shannel
Bryan Watkins, known by his stage name Shannel (born July 3, 1979), is an American drag queen and television personality, best known for competing on the first season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' and later the first season of '' RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars''. He placed in the top four on both seasons. Early life Watkins was born to Debbie and Gary Watkins on July 3, 1979, in Orange County, California. He was raised in Cypress, California, and attended Pacifica High School. He was introduced to drag at age 8 when he was taken to a Las Vegas boylesque show, and started doing drag at fifteen years old when he entered a Halloween drag contest under the name “Elvira” and won. He worked as a beauty advisor for the cosmetics company Chanel. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2000. RuPaul's Drag Race (season 1)
The first season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' premiered in the United States on February 2, 2009, on Logo. Nine contestants were selected to compete in the running of becoming "America's Next Drag Superstar." The first season was filmed during the summer of 2008. The winner of the first season won a cash prize of $20,000, $5,000 worth of MAC Cosmetics, was featured in an LA Eyeworks campaign, and joined the Logo Drag Race tour. One of the nine contestants to compete on ''RuPaul's Drag Race'', Nina Flowers was determined by an audience vote via the show's official website to be the season's Miss Congeniality. The results were announced in early September 2008. The theme song playing during the runway every episode was "Cover Girl" from RuPaul's album ''Champion''. This season and season one of '' All Stars'' are the only seasons to not feature the "Snatch Game". The eighth season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' began airing on March 7, 2016. ''RuPaul's Drag U'' (as in "Drag University") is an American reality television series that debuted July 19, 2010, on Logo TV. Its final episode aired in August 2012. It was hosted by RuPaul and a team of drag queen "professors". ''Drag U'' was a spin-off (media), spin-off of ''RuPaul's Drag Race''.
