Shangus is a village Panchayat and a tehsil in Anantnag district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Sampooran Singh Kalra (born 18 August 1934), known professionally as Gulzar, is an Indian Urdu poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is regarded as one of greatest Urdu poets of this era. He started his career with music director S.D. Burman as a lyricist in the 1963 film ''Bandini'' and worked with many music directors including R. D. Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Vishal Bhardwaj and A. R. Rahman. Peer Mohammed Hussain Soharvardi (born 12 April 1941) is a Kashmiri politician and former Minister of State in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He served as Member of Legislative Assembly (2002-2008) after being elected from the Shangus assembly constituency. He, subsequently, also served as Vice Chairman of the J&K Muslim Wakf Board. Personal life Family Hussain was born on 12 April 1942 in Kadapora, Anantnag to Haajra Begum and Peer Salam-ud-din Soharvardi.
