Shane Getson
Shane Getson (born in 1973) is a Canadian politician who was elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland. Shane Getson was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland on April 16, 2019. He currently serves as deputy chair on the Standing Committee on the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund and is a Member of the Standing Committees on Resource Stewardship. Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, he spent 15 years in the construction industry, most recently in the position of a project director. Prior to this, he worked from 2008 to 2012 as senior manager of planning and execution for a private company in the energy sector. Alberta New Democratic Party
The Alberta New Democratic Party (french: Nouveau Parti démocratique de l'Alberta), commonly shortened to Alberta's NDP, is a social-democratic political party in Alberta, Canada. It is the provincial Alberta affiliate of the federal New Democratic Party, and the successor to the Alberta section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation and the even earlier Alberta wing of the Canadian Labour Party and the United Farmers of Alberta. Sweetgrass–Coutts Border Crossing
The Sweetgrass–Coutts Border Crossing connects the town of Sweet Grass, Montana with the village of Coutts, Alberta, on the Canada–United States border. I-15 on the American side joins Alberta Highway 4 on the Canadian side. Similarly, BNSF Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) connect. A primary conduit for cross border trade estimated at billion, it is the busiest crossing for both the province of Alberta and state of Montana, and among the busiest west of the Great Lakes. A series of protests and blockades in Canada against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions, called the Freedom Convoy (french: Convoi de la liberté, links=no) by organizers, began in early 2022. The initial convoy movement was created to protest vaccine mandates for crossing the United States border, but later evolved into a protest about COVID-19 mandates in general.
