Shane Emmett (actor)
Shane Emmett (born 4 January 1976) is an Australian actor, presenter and film-maker. Early life Emmett was born in Gosford, NSW, to Michael and Laraine Emmett, and grew up in Umina Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales. He is the third of four children (Lesley, Belinda, and Matthew). Emmett attended St John The Baptist primary school in Woy Woy and St Edward's Christian Brothers College and Corpus Christi College, graduating in 1993. Career Emmett began acting while completing a degree in Communications at Macquarie University in 1998. He first gained recognition in 2003 for his performance of the lead Frank Marlow in the musical ''Get Happy'' in Sydney. Emmett has also performed as Frank Sinatra in the musical ''From Here To Eternity'', Marius in ''Les Misérables'' and Captain Von Trapp in ''The Sound of Music''. The Inside Film Awards (now known as the IF Awards) is an annual awards ceremony and broadcast platform for the Australian film industry, developed by the creators of Inside Film Magazine, Stephen Jenner and David Barda, and originally produced for television by Australian Producer Andrew Dillon. The awards are determined by a national audience poll, which differentiates it from the Australian AACTA Awards, which are judged by industry professionals. The event is held in November each year, and is broadcast on SBS television and showtime movie channels. The IF Awards were first held in 1999, and until 2006 were also known as the Lexus Inside Film Awards, in recognition of its principal sponsor Lexus. Tropfest
Tropfest is the world's largest short film film festival, festival. It has also become known as the world's first global film festival. Founded by actor/director John Polson, Tropfest began in 1993 as a screening for 200 people at the 'Tropicana Caffe' in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia, but has since become the largest platform for short films in the world. Tropfest Australia usually takes place in February each year in Sydney and it has been broadcast live via free-to-air television as well as global streaming and catch up. Sydney Tropfest 2015 was cancelled less than a month before it was scheduled to run.
