Shane Bergman
Shane Bergman (born February 9, 1990) is a retired Canadian football offensive lineman who played in seven seasons for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a two-time Grey Cup champion having won in 2014 and 2018 and was a CFL-All Star in 2019. He played CIS football at the University of Western Ontario and attended Waterford District High School in Waterford, Ontario. Early years Bergman played football for the Waterford District High School Wolves. He helped the team win a league championship in 2009. College career Bergman played CIS football for the Western Ontario Mustangs. Professional career Bergman was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the sixth round with the 48th pick in the 2013 CFL Draft. He signed with the Stampeders on May 21, 2013. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. A number of NFL rules specifically address restrictions and requirements for the offensive line, whose job is to help protect the quarterback from getting sacked for a loss, or worse, fumbling. The defensive line is covered by the same rules that apply to all defensive players. 2020 CFL Season
The 2020 CFL season would have been the 67th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it would have been the 63rd season of the Canadian Football League. It was originally scheduled to begin on June 11; on April 7, the start of the season was delayed to begin no sooner than July due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The CFL planned to obtain financial assistance from the federal government. In May, the CFL delayed the season to no sooner than September, and announced that the Grey Cup was to be played as a home advantage game rather than as a neutral site game in Regina, Saskatchewan, as originally planned. CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award
The Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award is annually awarded to the best offensive lineman in the Canadian Football League. The two nominees for the award are the Leo Dandurand Trophy winner from the East Division, and the DeMarco-Becket Memorial Trophy winner from the West Division. Between the years of 1955 to 1973, both defensive players and offensive lineman had to compete for the CFL's Most Outstanding Lineman Award. BC Lions
The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Lions compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and play their home games at BC Place. The Lions played their first season in 1954, and have played every season since, making them the oldest professional sports franchise in British Columbia. They have appeared in the league's Grey Cup championship game 10 times, winning six, with their most recent championship occurring in 2011. The Lions were the first Western Canadian team to win the Grey Cup at home, doing so in 1994 and 2011, before Saskatchewan achieved the feat in 2013.
