Shan Jixiang
Dr. Shan Jixiang (; born July 1954) is a Chinese politician, scholar, architect, serves as Dean of Gugong Academy of the Palace Museum. He served as curator of the Palace Museum between 2012 and 2019 and formerly as Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration. Shan was a member of the 10th, 11th and 12th National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), president of Cultural Relics Society of China, and vice chairman of the Architectural Society of China. Biography Shan was born in Jiangning County, Jiangsu in July 1954. He graduated from Tsinghua University, where he studied urban planning and design under Wu Liangyong. Shan started his research on the conservation and planning of historical cities and cultural heritage areas while studying in Japan from 1980 to 1984. Shan (surname)
Shan () is a Chinese surname. The origin of this surname is not clear. One explanation is that it came from Shan County in Shandong province. Another possible origin involves King Cheng of Zhou's youngest son's acquisition of the name when he was given what would become the Shan state when the enfeoffment system was enacted during the Zhou dynasty. The Shan state existed for a few hundred years before it was annexed by a stronger neighbouring state. It was located in present-day Jiyuan, Henan province. Although the surname comes from the place name, the Shan family was a branch of the royal family of the Zhou dynasty. Its ancient origin determines its rareness and not many people have the Shan surname. According to one unverifiable estimate, about 150,000 people are of the surname. Southeast University (SEU, ) is a public research university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. It was formed from one of the oldest universities and the first coeducational university in China, and designated as a member of the Double First Class University Plan, Project 985, and Project 211, sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China aiming to develop into a world-class university. The Ministry of Culture (MOC) was a ministry of the government of the People's Republic of China which was dissolved on 19 March 2018. Wu Liangyong
Wu Liangyong (, born 7 May 1922) is a Chinese architect and urban planner. He was a former professor in urban planning, architecture, and design. In preparation to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he was leading the team that studied the buildings of the games. He is considered the most influential architect and urban planner in China. Life Wu was born in Nanjing on 7 May 1922. In 1944, he obtained a bachelor's degree in architecture at the National Central University (now Nanjing University) in Chongqing, and a master's degree at the American Guangxi Art Academy. He also studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the United States. Together with professor Liang Sicheng, he founded the Faculty of Architecture on the Tsinghua University in 1946, where he focused on urban planning, architecture, and design.
