Shamsudheen Cherpulassery is an Indian magician from Kerala. He won the Kalasree award from Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi in 2014. He is an expert in the "Mango Trick" magic. Biography Shamsudheen's father Hassan Sahib was a street magician. He was the first guru for Shamsudheen in magic. Shamudheen is maintaining his livelihood through street magic. The Time Magazine and The Hindu have reported about his Mango trick. Kollam
Kollam (), also known by its former name Quilon , is an ancient seaport and city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. Street magic falls into two genres; traditional street performance and guerrilla magic. Traditional street performance The first definition of street magic refers to a traditional form of magic performance – that of busking. In this, the magician draws an audience from passers by and performs an entire act for them. In exchange, the magician seeks remuneration either by having a receptacle for tips available throughout the act (known in the parlance as a "trickle show"), or by offering a receptacle for tips at the end of the show. Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award is an award given by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, an autonomous organisation for the encouragement, preservation, and documentation of the performing arts of Kerala, set up by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala. Instituted in 1962, the awards are given in the categories of music, dance, theatre, other traditional arts, and for contribution/scholarship in performing arts.
