Shamshad Ahmad ( ur, ) (born 10 December 1941) is a veteran Pakistani diplomat, international relations expert and an author who served in BPS-22 grade as the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan from 1997 to 2000. He also served as the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations between 2000 till 2002. Shamshad Akhtar is a Pakistani development economist, United Nations diplomat and banker who also served as the caretaker Finance Minister of Pakistan. Prior to that, she served as the 14th Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the first woman to assume this position. She also served as a senior adviser to the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon and as Vice-President of the World Bank. In December 2013, Akhtar was selected by the UN Secretary-General as Under-Secretary-General and the 10th Chief Secretary of the Monetary and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). Shamshad Begum (Hindi: शमशाद बेगम, IAST: ''Śamśād Bēgam''; 14 April 1919 – 23 April 2013) was an Indian singer who was one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry. Notable for her distinctive voice and range, she sang over 6,000 songs in Hindustani, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, and Punjabi languages, among which 1287 were Hindi film songs. She worked with renowned composers of the time, such as Naushad Ali and O. P. Nayyar, for whom she was one of their favorites. Her songs from the 1940s to the early 1970s remain popular and continue to be remixed. Shamshad Begum is an Indian social worker, known for her efforts towards the education of backward communities of Chhattisgarh such as the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other backward communities. She was honoured by the Government of India, in 2012, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. Biography Shamshad Begum comes from Balod district (formerly a part of the undivided Durg) in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. As the president of a small village society operating in Gunderdehi block, Begum had an opportunity to get associated with the National Literacy Mission Programme of the Government of India and this paved the way for her entry into social service. Shamshad Hussain (1946 – 24 October 2015) was an Indian artist and the son of M. F. Husain. Early life Shamshad was born in Mumbai in 1946. He attended Baroda College of Fine Arts, where he studied a diploma in painting. He then studied at the Royal College of Art, Hussain claims that his time there "changed my perspective about art". Shamshad Khan (born 1964, Leeds) is a widely anthologised Manchester-based poet. Khan was born in Leeds in 1964 in a Pakistani family which later relocated to Manchester. Khan's poems have been published in anthologies including ''Flame'', ''Poetry of Rebellion'', ''The Fire People'' (1998), ''Bittersweet'' (1999), ''Healing Strategies for Women at War'', ''Gargoyle'', ''Longman’s GCSE Poems for your Pocket'', ''Velocity'' and Redbeck Press’ anthology of British South Asian poets. Her 1994 short story, ‘The Woman and the Chair’ received critical acclaim. She has performed her work widely, and been broadcast on local and national radio in the UK including the BBC's Radio 4’s Love Thang and Woman’s Hour.
