Avon United Football Club was a New Zealand amateur football club based in the city of Christchurch Christchurch ( ; mi, Ōtautahi) is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. The club consists of around 550 junior players (boys and girls) with grades from Midget (approx 5 years) all the way to Premier Youth (under 19). Avonhead Park
Avonhead is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Christchurch. It has two primary schools, a shopping centre and several parks. Etymology Engineer William Bayley Bray (1812–1885) arrived in Canterbury in January 1851 on the ''Duke of Bronte'' and built a homestead at the head of the Avon River in an area with many springs, and he thus called it Avonhead.
