The Coatesville team was a minor league baseball team based in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. The "Coatesville" minor league teams played as members of the 1904 Pennsylvania League, 1905 Tri-State League and 1908 Pennsylvania-New Jersey League and were without a known team nickname, common in the era. History In 1904, the Coatesville team began minor league play as members of the Independent level Pennsylvania League. The 1904 Pennsylvania League was a six–team league. Joining Coatesville in the Pennsylvania League were the teams based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Chester, Pennsylvania, Johnstown, Pennsylvania (Johnstown Johnnies), Oxford, Pennsylvania and Pottstown, Pennsylvania. While rosters exist, the team records and statistics of the 1904 Pennsylvania League are unknown. Independent Baseball League
An independent baseball league is a professional baseball organization in the United States or Canada that is not overseen by Major League Baseball and is outside the Minor League Baseball clubs affiliated to it. The Northern League and Frontier League both started play in 1993, and the Northern League's success paved the way for other independent leagues like the Texas-Louisiana League and Northeast League. Bud Sharpe
Bayard Heston "Bud" Sharpe (1881-1916) was a Major League Baseball first baseman/outfielder. He played Major League baseball in parts of two seasons – 1905 and 1910. Sharpe was born on August 6, 1881, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed, and his height and weight are unknown. Sharpe chose to attend Penn State University. On April 14, 1905, at the age of 23, Sharpe made his big league debut with the Boston Beaneaters. In 46 games that year, he batted .182 in 170 at-bats. The next chance Sharpe got to play in the big leagues was with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1910. He played only four games with them that year before being traded to the Boston Doves on April 28 with Sam Frock for Kirby White. With both teams in 1910, Sharpe hit a combined .237 in 119 games. Harry John Arndt (1879–1921) was a Major League Baseball (MLB) second baseman. He was born on February 12, 1879, in South Bend, Indiana. He played four seasons, with the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles (1901–02), Baltimore Orioles, and St. Louis Cardinals. Arndt played in 271 games with 244 hits in 985 at bats.
