The Wilkinsons
The Wilkinsons were a Canadian country music trio from Belleville, Ontario. Founded in 1997, the group consisted of lead singer Amanda Wilkinson, her brother Tyler Wilkinson, and their father, Steve Wilkinson. The Wilkinsons achieved success late in 1998 with the hit single " 26 Cents", a Number One on the Canadian country music charts and Top 5 hit on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. ''Here and Now'' is the second studio album by Canadian country music group The Wilkinsons, released on April 4, 2000. The album includes three singles, all three of which charted in Canada. Content In Canada, the singles " Jimmy's Got a Girlfriend", "Shame on Me", and "1999" respectively peaked at numbers 11, 10, and 16 on the ''RPM'' country singles charts. In the United States, the former two singles respectively reached numbers 34 and 49 on Hot Country Songs, while "1999" did not chart. Critical reception Maria Konicki Dinoia of Allmusic rated the album 3.5 out of 5 stars, saying that "Amanda's vocals, Tyler's harmonies, and Steve's writing all contribute to one of the finest sophomore outings by a country group in a long time." Giant Records was launched in 1990 as a joint venture between Warner Bros. Records and record executive Irving Azoff. Gary Burr
Gary Burr, born in Meriden, Connecticut, is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, primarily in the country music genre. Many of the songs he has written have become Top-10 hits, the first of which was " Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me" released by Juice Newton (#7 on Billboard's Hot 100) in 1982. He became a member of the group Pure Prairie League (1982 to 1985), taking over after Vince Gill departed the group. Burr later moved to Nashville to focus on his songwriting career, though he has continued performing and is currently a member of the Blue Sky Riders. He has written and co-written songs for many country artists (The Oak Ridge Boys, Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless, etc.), and a few songs for Pop and Rock artists (Juice Newton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Lisa Loeb). Doug Johnson (record Producer)
Doug Johnson (born in Swainsboro, Georgia) is an American record producer and songwriter. He began in the 1970s working as an engineer and mixer for the Lowery Group. His first production credit was for The Burch Sisters, an act which signed with Mercury Nashville in 1988. A year later, Johnson helped Doug Stone secure a contract with Epic Records. While at Epic, Johnson became the vice president of A&R, helping the label to sign Patty Loveless while producing for Ty Herndon, John Michael Montgomery, and others. Johnson also assembled the members of the Gibson/Miller Band, which recorded two albums for Epic. He was promoted to senior vice president of the label in 1994, then moved to Giant Records in 1997, becoming president of that label. Johnson also produces and co-writes for Lee Brice. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000.
