Shakil Ahmed (officer)
Major General Shakil Ahmed SPP, BGBM, nswc, afwc, psc is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. As Major General he is currently the Director General of Boarder Guards Bangladesh (BGB). Prior to this appointment, he served as Adjutant general of Army Headquarters. Before that he has served as the General Officers Commanding of 19th Infantry Division in ghatail. Education Ahmed was born on 19 December 1968 in Joypurhat District, East Pakistan, Pakistan. He completed his postgraduate education in National Security and War Studies, and Strategic Studies and Defense Studies. Career Ahmed was commissioned in the Infantry corps of Bangladesh Army on 19 December 1988. Ahmed commanded the 99th Composite Brigade and East Bengal Regiment. Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The Bangladesh Tea Board or BTB, an autonomous body responsible for creating laws regarding tea production, controlling and encouraging the production of tea and is located in Nasirabad, Chittagong, Bangladesh. School of Infantry and Tactics is a Bangladesh army infantry and special forces training institute. The institute was founded in 1973 and is based in Jalalabad Cantonment. History The institute was formed on 19 March 1973 at Comilla Cantonment. It was originally called School of Infantry. In 1974 the a tactical wing was added and it was moved to Jessore Cantonment and renamed School of Infantry and Tactics. In the same year it was renamed COMBAS and divided into separate schools for armour, artillery, engineers, and infantry. In August 1977 the institute was renamed back to School of Infantry and Tactics as it became focused again on infantry training and other branches of the army developed their own training institutes. The East Bengal Regiment ( bn, ইস্ট বেঙ্গল রেজিমেন্ট) is an infantry regiment ( regimental system type) and the largest military formation of the Bangladesh Army. History The East Bengal Regiment was formed on 15 February 1948, following the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947.
