Shakil Ahmed (Major General)
Major General Shakil Ahmed was a two-star major-general of the Bangladesh Army and the head of Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guard Bangladesh). He was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in 1976. He was a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College, Malaysia. A former Distinguished Allied Graduate from Field Artillery Officers Advanced Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma of the US Army, he had been a Directing Staff at Defence Services Command and Staff College in Mirpur, Dhaka. He was also an instructor at Artillery School and commanded a Field Artillery Brigade. Later he became a Sector Commander of Bangladesh Rifles. Major General
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a Division (military), division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades). Operation Daal Bhat
Operation Dal-Bhat was an operation carried out by Bangladesh Rifles to provide grocery items (Dal Bhaat) to low income groups in Bangladesh. The operation was carried out during the Caretaker Government of Fakhruddin Ahmed. It was one of the main reasons behind the Bangladesh Rifles Mutiny of 2009. Colonel Mujibul Haque who was killed in the mutiny was in charge of the operation. The mutineers demanded their share of the profits from the operation. A military attaché is a military expert who is attached to a diplomatic mission, often an embassy. This type of attaché post is normally filled by a high-ranking military officer, who retains a commission while serving with an embassy. Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) are a paramilitary force responsible for the border security of Bangladesh. The force is known as "The Vigilant Sentinels of the National Frontier". The BGB is entrusted with the responsibility to defend the border of Bangladesh. It was formerly known as the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR). BGB boasts a military history spanning over two centuries. Rangpur Cantonment
Rangpur Cantonment ( bn, রংপুর সেনানিবাস) is a cantonment located in Rangpur, Bangladesh. It is the headquarter of 66th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army. History The mass of the city of Rangpur were protesting against the Pakistanis from a very beginning of the year 1971.
