Assala Mostafa Hatem Nasri ( ar, أصالة مصطفى حاتم نصري; born 15 May 1969), commonly known as Assala ( ar, أصالة), is a Syrian musical artist. She is one of the most popular and famous Arab singers. Early life and career Assala was born in Damascus, Syria to a middle class couple. Mostafa Nasri, Assala's father, was a revered composer and singer. Assala began her musical career by performing patriotic, religious, and children's songs when she was four years old. She sang the theme song "Qessas Al Sho'oub" (), of the cartoon show, ''Hekayat Alamiyah'' (). In 1984, Mostafa Nasri died after suffering from internal bleeding caused by a car accident. Aged 15 she helped to take care of her siblings Aman, Ayham, Reem and Anas with her mother Aziza Al-Babelli. Tariq ( ar, طارق) is an Arabic word and given name. Etymology The word is derived from the Arabic verb , ('), meaning "to strike", and into the agentive conjugated doer form , ('), meaning "striker". It became popular as a name after Tariq ibn Ziyad, a Muslim military leader who conquered Iberia in the Battle of Guadalete in 711 AD. In literature and placenames Ṭariq is used in classical Arabic to refer to a visitor at night (a visitor "strikes" the house door). Due to the heat of travel in the Arabian Peninsula, visitors would generally arrive at night. Hossam Habib ( ar, حسام حبيب; born May 31, 1980) is an Egyptian singer and composer. Personal life Habib has one sister (Ranya) and one brother (Bassel) whom are both younger than him. Hossam got married in Cairo, Egypt, on April 7, 2018, to the Egyptian singer, Sherine Abdel-Wahab. The wedding was only attended by immediate family members and the managers and organizer of the couple, including Sherine's daughters (Maryam and Hana) from previous marriage to composer, Mohammed Mustafa.
