Shai Maestro
Shai Maestro (born February 5, 1987) is an Israeli jazz pianist. Biography Shai Maestro began playing classical piano aged five and graduated from the Thelma Yellin High School of Performing Arts in Givataim, Israel. After winning the National Jazz Ensembles Competition Jazz Signs in 2002 and 2003 and receiving scholarships (2004 to 2010) from the America-Israel Cultural Fund for jazz piano, he attended Berklee College of Music's Five-Week Summer Performance Program in Boston, where he was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee, an offer he declined. A few weeks later, bassist Avishai Cohen invited him to join his trio with drummer Mark Guiliana. He recorded four albums with the Avishai Cohen Trio, including two for Blue Note: ''Gently Disturbed'' (2008), ''Sensitive Hours'' (2008), ''Aurora'' (2009), and ''Seven Seas'' (2011). Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles. Theodor Raoul Bleckmann (born 28 May 1966) is a German singer and composer. Biography Bleckmann was born in Dortmund, West Germany. He planned to be an ice skater before becoming a vocalist. In 1989 he moved to New York City and recorded his first two albums, ''Theo & Kirk'' (1992) and ''Looking Glass River'' (1995) with Kirk Nurock. His mentor was Sheila Jordan, and he appeared on her album ''Jazz Child'' (1999). Oded Tzur (born January 5, 1984) is an Israeli, New York City based saxophonist, composer, bandleader and educator. His work focuses on fundamental connections between several different musical traditions, among them are Indian Classical Music and Jazz, and draws inspiration from the art of storytelling. His sound on the tenor saxophone results from a technique he developed while studying Indian Classical Music, which has been credited with giving his instrument pioneering dimension and depth. Jorge Roeder is a Peruvian bass player and composer. He has performed and collaborated with many jazz artists including Gary Burton, Nels Cline and John Zorn. As part of the Julian Lage Group, he received a 2010 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, for ''Sounding Point''. In 2020, Roeder released his first solo album, ''El Suelo Mío''.
