Shahril Alias
Muhammad Shahril bin Mohamad Alias (born 14 May 1984) is a professional football player who plays for the Woodlands Wellington in the S.League. He is a natural centre-back, though he can also play as a defensive midfielder or a right back. Club career Shahril has previously played for S.League clubs Woodlands Wellington, Young Lions, Home United and Hougang United FC. In 2011, Shahril was transferred to Hougang United FC, replacing Fumiya Kobayashi at the centre back role. He made his debut for the Cheetahs against Gombak United on 30 June 2011 alongside Vitor Borges and was influential in Hougang's 3–2 win. When his contract with Hougang expired at the end of the 2011 S.League season, he was transferred to Geylang United FC. Woodlands Wellington Football Club is an inactive professional association football, football club which played in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. They are based in Woodlands, Singapore, Woodlands at the 4,300 seater Woodlands Stadium, where they have played since their establishment. Woodlands Wellington FC's honours include winning the inaugural Singapore League Cup in 2007, defeating Sengkang Punggol FC 4–0 in the final. Gombak United
Gombak United Football Club was a professional football club which competed in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. The club was based in Bukit Gombak. During the early years of the S. League, Gombak United played their home games at Bukit Gombak Stadium before moving to Jurong West Stadium in 2006 until they dissolved in 2012. History Prior to joining the S.League, the club was known as Redhill Rangers FC. From 1998 to 2002, the club played their S.League home games at the Bukit Gombak Stadium before pulling out of the S.League at the end of the 2002 season due to financial difficulties. Singapore League Cup
The Singapore League Cup was an annual soccer competition in Singapore. It was launched in 2007, and was open to teams who play in the S.League. The 2007 competition was sponsored by SingTel, and officially titled the SingTel League Cup. Eight of the twelve S.League teams took part in the 2007 tournament, which was held before the start of the S.League season proper. In 2008, the competition's official sponsored name was the Avaya-J&J League Cup (with sponsorship coming from Avaya and Jebsen & Jessen Communications). All twelve S.League teams took part in the 2008 tournament. Unlike the 2007 event, the 2008 competition was held during the S.League season. Singapore Cup
The Singapore Cup is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic Singaporean football. Established in 1998, it is the foremost football cup competition in the country. It is open to clubs in the Singapore Premier League. Since 2005, foreign teams from other countries in Southeast Asia are occasionally invited to compete in the Singapore Cup. Chonburi Province FC from Thailand was the first foreign club reaching the final in 2006 (they lost 3–2 in the final to local club Tampines Rovers). In 2009, Bangkok Glass became the second foreign team to reach the final, losing against local club Geylang United, but they beat Tampines Rovers in 2010 to become the first foreign winners of the Singapore Cup. 2012 Singapore League Cup
The 2012 Singapore League Cup (known as the StarHub League Cup for sponsorship purposes) was held between 26 July to 11 August 2012. Traditionally held as a knockout competition, the 2012 edition saw a new format where four groups of three teams battled it out for a place in the semi-finals. In addition, the four teams that finished third in their respective groups played in a separate Plate Competition consisting of two semi-finals and a final. The winner of the StarHub League Cup, DPMM FC, walked away with SGD$30,000 in prize money, while the runner up of the competition, Geylang United received SGD$15,000 in prize money. The winner of the Plate competition, Balestier Khalsa, also walked away with SGD$5,000 in prize money. Yazid Yasin
Yazid Yasin is a retired Singapore footballer who played most of his career in S.League He is one of a rare handful of players who had won every single title available in the domestic league since its inauguration in 1996. Club career As a youth player, Yazid first came to prominence in the 1995 Lion City Cup where he stood in goal for eventual winners, the Singapore A (Under-16) squad, alongside Indra Sahdan and Ahmad Latiff Khamaruddin.
