Shah Muhammad Sagir
Shah Muhammad Sagir ( bn, শাহ মুহম্মদ সগীর) was one of the earliest Bengali Muslim poets, if not the first. Life Shah Muhammad Sagir was a poet of the 14/15th century, during the reign of the Sultan of Bengal Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah. He was born to a Fakir family in Chittagong, the then cultural capital of Arakan. His best known work is Yusuf-Zulekha, which has commendatory verses for Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah. He was the court poet of Azam Shah and wrote the volume at his request. Although it has praise for the parents and teachers of the poet, it does not mention their names or residence. Shah Muhammad Sagir is considered to be the first writer to introduce Perso-Arabic vocabulary into Bengali poetry. Sir Shah Muhammad Sulaiman (3 February 1886 – 12 March 1941) (popularly known as Sir Shah Sulaiman or Sir Sulaiman) was the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court from 16 March 1932 to 30 September 1937 and was the first Indian and one of the youngest to hold the post. Sulaiman was the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University from 1938 to 1941. Early life He was born into a distinguished family of lawyers and scientists of Waleedpur village in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. One of his ancestors was Mulla Mahmud Jaunpuri (d.1652), who was the foremost philosopher and physicist of Shah Jahan's time, a debater of issues in Shiraz with Mir Damad, and the author of a much valued commentary, ''Shams al-Bazigha''. Shah Muhammad (died 5 August 1433) was a 15th century Qara Qoyunlu prince, second son of Qara Yusuf and a governor of Baghdad. Early years According to Mamluk historian Ibn Taghribirdi, he grew up in Erbil around Christian community. Tenure His tenure in Baghdad is considered as uneventful by historians. He was appointed to this post in 1410 or 1411 by his father. His son, Shah Ali was his subordinate ruling around Mosul. After strengthening his position, he attacked Shahrizor in 1413, ruled by Muhammad Sāru Turkman. After defeating him, he put Saru Turkman in Hit castle prison, while taking his family to Baghdad. He attacked Shushtar in June-July 1415 and defeated last remnants of Jalayirids, but failed to end their reign elsewhere. He supported his father in his attacks against Timurids in 1414 but started to act independently in 1417, collecting his own taxes.
