Thanas Of Bangladesh
Thana or Thânâ ( bn, থানা literally "police station") mean the district controlled by a police station. History Thana was a subdistrict in the administrative geography of Bangladesh. The Local Government Ordinance of 1982 was amended a year later, redesignating and upgrading the existing ''thanas'' as '' upazilas''. Later in 1999 geographic regions under administrations of thanas were converted into upazilas. All administrative terms in this level were renamed from ''thana'' to ''upazila''. The word thana is now used to solely refer to police stations. Generally, there is one police station for each upazila. However, larger administrative units may have more than one police station covering different regions. Dhaka District ( bn, ঢাকা জেলা, Dhaka jela) is a district in central Bangladesh, and is the densest district in the nation. It is a part of the Dhaka Division. Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and rests on the eastern banks of the Buriganga River which flows from the Turag to the southern part of the district. While Dhaka (city corporation) occupies only about a fifth of the area of Dhaka district, it is the economic, political and cultural centre of the district and the country as a whole. Dhaka District consists with Dhaka, Keraniganj , Nababganj, Dohar, Savar and Dhamrai upazila. Shah Ali Baghdadi
Shāh ʿAlī al-Baghdādī (–1480) was a 15th-century Muslim missionary and Sufi saint based in the Faridpur and Dhaka regions of Bengal. Life Ali al-Baghdadi was born in to Mufti Fakhruddin in Baghdad, Abbasid Caliphate. He was a descendant of Sultan Ali, allegedly a son of Muhammad al-Jawad and younger brother of Ali al-Hadi. He was said to have belonged to the Qadiri Order. At the age of twenty, he travelled to the Delhi Sultanate with forty to one hundred companions in 838 AH (1434 CE). He married into the Sayyid dynasty of Delhi. Eventually, he entered the Sultanate of Bengal during the reign of Sultan Jalaluddin Muhammad Shah. The Sultan gifted him with 12,000 bighas of land in Dholsamudra, Faridpur and he settled in the qasba of Girdah. The presence of Sufi saints such as Shah Ali Baghdadi, his brother-in-law Shah Husayn Tegh-Burhana and companions Haji Saaduddin and Shah Muhammad Goraz led to the area being named as Miran-i-Girdah in their honour. Sufism in Bangladesh is more or less similar to that in the whole Indian subcontinent. India, it is claimed, is one of the five great centers of Sufism, the other four being Persia (including central Asia), Baghdad, Syria, and North Africa. Sufi saints flourished in Hindustan (India) preaching the mystic teachings of Sufism that easily reached the common people, especially the spiritual truth seekers in India. Sufism in Bangladesh is also called pirism, after the pirs or teachers in the Sufi tradition (also called Fakir).
