Shadow On The Wall (1950 Film)
''Shadow on the Wall'' is a 1950 American psychological thriller film directed by Patrick Jackson and starring Ann Sothern, Zachary Scott and Gigi Perreau and featuring Nancy Davis. It is based on the 1943 story ''Death in the Doll's House'' by Hannah Lees and Lawrence P. Bachmann. Plot David Stirrling returns from a business trip with gifts for his six-year-old daughter Susan, and for his wife, Susan's step-mother, Celia. He also has some World War II souvenirs, including a handgun. Celia is not there when David arrives, she's with Crane Weymouth, with whom she is having an affair. Crane is the fiancé of Celia's sister, Dell Faring. David sees her getting out of Crane's car, so he realizes that her story of seeing a matinee with a girl friend is untrue. Crane and Dell come to dinner that night, and afterwards David tricks Crane into revealing that he and Celia had been together that afternoon. Patrick Douglas Selmes Jackson (26 March 1916 – 3 June 2011) was an English film and television director. Biography Born in Eltham, to a formerly affluent family which was severely affected by the Wall Street Crash in 1929, and his father's long-term illness and early death ending Jackson's formal education. He joined the GPO Film Unit on his 17th birthday as a messenger boy after his mother persuaded her MP, Sir Kingsley Wood, then also postmaster general, to find work for her son. Rising to production assistant, he was part of the crew for the short film ''Night Mail'' (1936). The voice narrating the poem by W.H. Auden ("This is the Night Mail crossing the border, bringing the cheque and the postal order.") was Jackson himself. Kristine Miller (born Jacqueline Olivia Eskesen, June 13, 1925 – 2015) was an American film actress, best-remembered for her appearances in film noir and Westerns. Eddie Muller (born October 15, 1958) is an American writer based in San Francisco. He is known for writing books about movies, particularly film noir, and is the host of Noir Alley on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Early life and education Muller is the son of a famous San Francisco boxing writer of the same name. Muller studied with filmmaker George Kuchar at the San Francisco Art Institute in the late 1970s. ''The Window'' is a 1949 American black-and-white suspense film noir starring Barbara Hale and based on the short story "The Boy Cried Murder" (reprinted as "Fire Escape") by Cornell Woolrich about a lying boy who suspects that his neighbors are killers. The film, a critical success that was shot on location in New York City, was produced by Frederic Ullman Jr. for $210,000 but earned much more, making it a box office hit for RKO Pictures. Thomas Anthony Sydes (May 4, 1941 – June 20, 2015) was an American child actor on film and television. Biography Sydes was born May 4, 1941, in North Hollywood, California. He was the son of Thomas and Ruth Sydes, and he had a brother, Jonathan, and two sisters, Debbie and Carol. Sydes made his film debut in '' Claudia and David'' (1946). Sydes' last film appearance was in ''Gunsmoke in Tucson'' (1958). After his retirement from acting, Sydes joined the United States Army in 1963, and was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, and Italy.
