Shadow Board
A shadow board is a type of tool board for organizing a set of tools; the board defines where particular tools should be placed when they are not in use. Shadow boards have the outlines of a work station's tools marked on them, allowing operators to identify quickly which tools are in use or missing. The boards are commonly located near the work station where the tools are used. Shadow boards are often used in the manufacturing environment to improve a facility's lean six sigma capabilities. Shadow boards reduce time spent looking for tools and also reduce losses. They improve work station safety because tools are replaced safely after use, rather than becoming potential hazards. Shadow Board Cleaning Station
A shadow is a dark area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. It occupies all of the three-dimensional volume behind an object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two- dimensional silhouette, or a reverse projection of the object blocking the light. Point and non-point light sources A point source of light casts only a simple shadow, called an "umbra". For a non-point or "extended" source of light, the shadow is divided into the umbra, penumbra, and antumbra. The wider the light source, the more blurred the shadow becomes. Tool Board
A tool board or tool wall is a board for hanging tools onto, and is typically mounted on a wall or as a folding cabinet which rolls on wheels. Such boards are often found in workshops, and often consists of plates made of wood or metal. The tools are often hanged onto the tool board via hooks, screws, cane holders or other types of tool holders, and these are often attached to the board through pegs. Compared to a toolbox or tool cart, a tool board can give a better overview so that it is easy to find the needed tools for a job. A drawback of a tool board is that it may occupy a large area on a wall, and that the tools can get less protection from dust. Some recommend to hang heavier tools like hammers at the bottom, and especially wooden tool boards may bend or break from heavy tools if the board is made of fiberboard or other weaker materials. Lean Six Sigma is a method that uses a collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation. Tom Sachs (born July 26, 1966) is an American contemporary artist who lives and works in New York City. Life and early career Sachs was born in New York City on July 26, 1966. He grew up in Westport, Connecticut, attending high school at Greens Farms Academy, followed by Bennington College in Vermont. 5S is a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese language, Japanese words: , , , , and .
