Shadi A. Karam received degrees from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Columbia University, and Harvard University. In his primary professional capacity, he is known as a specialist in the restructuring of organizations and distressed companies, most notably occupying the post of Financial Adviser to the Director General of UNESCO and serving as a Chairman and CEO of several major companies in Europe and the Middle East in various sectors, ranging from industry to real estate development, hotels, trading and financial services. Karam was the lead principal in the restructuring and modernization of the Real Estate Bank of Syria, a State-owned bank, in 1996-1997 and the successful turn around of Lebanon's BLC Bank, one of the major commercial banks of Lebanon which had to be taken over by the Central Bank of Lebanon in 2002. The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA; ar, جهاز قطر للإستثمار) is Qatar's sovereign wealth fund. Riad Salameh
Riad Toufic Salameh (Arabic: رياض توفيق سلامة, born July 17, 1950) is the current Governor of Lebanon, Lebanon's central bank, Banque du Liban since April 1993. He was appointed Governor by decree, approved by the Council of Ministers of Lebanon, Council of Ministers for a renewable term of six years. He was reappointed for four consecutive terms; in 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2017. He is the longest-serving central bank governor in the world. Banque du Liban (BdL, ar, مصرف لبنان, English: Bank of Lebanon) is the central bank of Lebanon. It was established on August 1, 1963, and became fully operational on April 1, 1964. It is currently headed by Riad Salameh. One of the main responsibilities of the bank is issuing Lebanon's currency, the Lebanese Pound. Abdallah Abdel Razzaq Al Dardari ( ar, عبد الله الدردري; born 1963) is the United Nations Development Program's Resident Representative in Kabul, Afghanistan. Michel Suleiman ( ar, ميشال سليمان ; born 21 November 1948) is a Lebanese Maronite Christian politician who served as President of Lebanon from 2008 to 2014. Before becoming president, he served as commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces from 1998 to 2008.
