The Shades of Love were an electronic dance studio act which included Meli'sa Morgan as lead singer. Hailing from New York City, their best known material is "Keep in Touch". The original version entered the US dance charts in 1982, where it peaked at #26. In 1995, a remix of the song was released and hit number on the US dance charts. History The "band" debuted with an uptempo number "Come Inside", released by Scorpgemi Records in 1979. The next singles, released by the same record label, "Do Your Own Dance" and "Come and Make Me Feel Good" helped shape their typical sound. "Come and Make Me Feel Good" and the infamous "Keep in Touch (Body to Body)" were produced, arranged and written by Lonnie Johnson and Patrick Adams. Meli'sa Morgan
Joyce Melissa Morgan (usually spelled Meli'sa; born December 6, 1964) is an American R&B/Soul singer–songwriter. Morgan had a string of urban contemporary hits from the mid–1980s to the mid–1990s. Most notable include her cover version of Prince's "Do Me, Baby" (1985), "Do You Still Love Me" (1986) and "Still in Love with You" (1992). Early life Born in Queens, New York, Morgan got her start in the music industry while singing with a church gospel choir called the Starlets of Corona. Morgan cites Chaka Khan as a major influence. Career 1982–1992 Her initial chart entry was as the lead singer of the dance group, Shades of Love. In the issue dated March 16, 1985, '' Billboard'' magazine debuted its first chart devoted exclusively to 12-inch Singles Sales. The 50-position weekly ranking joined ''Billboard''s established Club Songs chart, reduced to the same 50 positions, both under the title Hot Dance/Disco. A coupling from MCA Records' ''Beverly Hills Cop'' soundtrack, Patti LaBelle's " New Attitude" and Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F", held the No. 1 slot for the chart's first week and was also No. 1 for the second consecutive week on the most played dance/disco chart. On June 20, 1992, the chart was renamed Maxi-Singles Sales, then simply Dance Singles Sales on March 1, 2003. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.
