Shabdasrishti
''Shabdasrishti'' ( gu, શબ્દસૃષ્ટિ, Śabdasr̥ṣṭi, World of Words), the journal of the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, is a Gujarati literary magazine, published on the fifth of every month. The magazine was started in 1983, a year after the establishment of the Akademi. ''Shabdakhya Jyoti Prakasho'' (Devnagari: शब्दाख्यज्योति प्रकाशो) is a motto of this magazine. History The first issue of ''Shabdasrishti'' was published in October 1983 under the editorship of Suman Shah. Shah served as an editor until May 1986, followed by Jyotish Jani from October 1986 to February 1990. The third editor of the magazine was Pravin Darji, who served from January 1992 until December 1994. It was then edited by Harshad Trivedi from January 1995 until October 2013. Harshad Trivedi
Harshad Trivedi (born 17 July 1958) is a Gujarati language poet, short story writer, critic and editor from Gujarat, India. He was an editor of ''Shabdasrishti'', an organ of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, from 1995 to 2015. Trivedi has served in different positions at several Gujarati literary institutions. Early life Trivedi was born in Kherali, a village in the Surendranagar district, to Amrutlal and Shashikala. His father was a poet. Trivedi completed his school education at Sheth N.T.M. High School in Surendranagar. Trivedi received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Saurashtra University with a concentration in Gujarati literature. In 1991, Trivedi married Bindu Bhatt, a Gujarati author. Career Trivedi started his career as a research assistant at an editorial section of Gujarati Sahitya Kosh, published by Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, where he worked from 1981 to 1984. Suman Shah
Suman Shah (Gujarati:સુમન શાહ) is a Gujarati language critic, short story writer, novelist, essayist, editor and translator from Gujarat, India. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2008 for his short story collection ''Fatfatiyun''. He has written both in the modern and in the postmodern eras in Gujarati literature. He has authored more than 74 books, including 2 novels, 6 short story collections, 4 collections of creative essays, 6 translations into Gujarati from English and Hindi, 22 books on literary criticism and around 23 edited works of literary theory and modern Gujarati short stories and poems. He was honorary editor of ''Shabdasrishti'' from 1983 to 1986 and an editor of ''Khevna'', a literary journal, from 1987 to 2009. Gujarat Sahitya Akademi
The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi ( gu, ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય અકાદમી) or Gujarat Sahitya Academy, established in 1981, is a government institution dedicated to the development of the languages spoken in Gujarat, India and their literature. Jyotish Jani
Jyotish Jagannath Jani (born 9 November 1928 – 2005) was a Gujarati novelist, poet and short story writer from Gujarat, India. Life Jyotish Jani was born on 9 November 1928 at Peej village (now in Kheda district, Gujarat). He studied in Surat and matriculated in 1945. In 1951, he completed B. Sc. in Chemistry from M. T. B. College. He did a Diploma in Journalism in 1963. He had a job in Accountant General in Mumbai which he left and joined editing department in ''Sandesh'' daily where he worked from 1962 to 1966. He was appointed subeditor there. In 1966-67, he worked as the Assistant Publicity Officer in Jyoti Limited, Vadodara. From 1974 to 1977, he was the Publicity and Public Relations Officer in Citizen's Council, Vadodara. He served as a subeditor in ''Gujarat Samachar'' daily from 1983 to 1986. Rajendra Patel
Rajendra Patel (Gujarati: રાજેન્દ્ર પટેલ) is a Gujarati language poet, short story writer and critic from Gujarat, India. He has served as Vice President of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad since 2014. His significant works include ''Jueeni Sugandha'' (2003; collection of short stories), ''Shri Purant Janse'' (2009; collection of poems) and ''Avagat'' (2014; collection of criticism). Gujarat Sahitya Akademi awarded him three times for his poems, short stories and criticism. His book ''Jueeni Sugandh'' was translated by Navneet Thakkar in Hindi as ''Juhi Ki Mahak'' (2007). He also served in the editorial team of ''Shabdasrishti'', a monthly magazine published by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi. Vishnu Pandya
Vishnu Pandya is a journalist, biographer, poet, novelist, writer and political analyst from Gujarat, India. He has been the chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi since 2017. Pandya writes articles on politics, history and historical places which are carried by several Gujarati newspapers and magazines, are among the most widely read columns in the State. He has been active in journalism for the last 40 years. Along with column writing in a Gujarati daily, he serves as General Secretary of Vishwa Gujarati Samaj. Gandhinagar (, ) is the capital of the state of Gujarat in India. Gandhinagar is located approximately 23 km north of Ahmedabad, on the west central point of the Industrial corridor between Delhi, the political capital of India, and Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Gandhinagar lies on the west bank of the Sabarmati River, about 545 km (338 miles) north of Mumbai and 901 km (560 miles) southwest of Delhi. The Akshardham temple is located in Gandhinagar. Gujarati (; gu, ગુજરાતી, Gujarātī, translit-std=ISO, label=Gujarati script, ) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Indian state of Gujarat and spoken predominantly by the Gujarati people. Gujarati is descended from Old Gujarati (). In India, it is one of the 22 scheduled languages of the Union. It is also the official language in the state of Gujarat, as well as an official language in the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Pravin Darji
Pravin Darji is Gujarati essayist, poet, critic and editor from India. ''Spand'' (1976), ''Charvana'' (1976), ''Dayarama'' (1978) and ''Pratyagra'' (1978) are some of his known works. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2011. Life Pravin Darji was born on 23 August 1944 in Mahelol village in Panchmahal district of Gujarat, India. He completed SSC in 1961 and BA in Gujarati and Sanskrit in 1965. He completed MA in 1967 from Gujarat University and PhD in 1973. He taught Gujarati in Arts College in Modasa from 1965 to 1967. He joined Lunavada College as a Professor in 1967 and served there until his retirement. He served as a chairman of the University Book Production Board for a year.
