''Shaani'' or ''Shanee'' is a 1989 Pakistani science fiction film directed by Saeed Rizvi and starring Babra Sharif, Sheri Malik, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Asif Khan, Saeed Rizvi and Mohammad Ali. The film is famous for its special effects which were first used in Pakistan. Awards The film won four Nigar Awards in 1989. The film also does not have any songs which according to director Saeed Rizvi, increased his belief in special effects. Plot ''Shanee'' begins with a glowing space ship that arrives in the middle of the forest near a village. A glowing figure appears and follows a terrified Babra Sharif to her house where he decides to assume the appearance of a young man he happens to view in a lovingly framed photograph. Babra Sharif
Babra Sharif ( ur, ), (born 10 December 1954) is a Pakistani film actress, most known for her roles from the mid-1970s to the 1980s. She started her career in television commercials. She has worked with many famous names of her time, including Shahid, Nadeem, Waheed Murad, Ghulam Mohyedin, Faisal Rehman, Muhammad Ali and even Sultan Rahi. She had great success in Urdu films in Pakistan. She did a variety of roles which proved her versatility as an actress. Ghulam Mohiuddin ( Punjabi, ur, غلام محی الدین); also spelled Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din) (born 27 October 1951) is a Pakistani actor of Urdu and Punjabi films. One of the country’s most popular film actors during the 70s and the 80s, he has worked in over 400 movies in Urdu and Punjabi during a career spanning nearly 50 years. He is popularly known as Gullo Bhai in the Pakistan film Industry. Career He first worked in film ''Dil Walay'' in 1974 and then he worked in film ''Mera Naam Hai Mohabbat'', released in 1975, was a blockbuster in Pakistan and China. Saeed Rizvi ( ur, سعيد رضا ) is a Pakistani film director. The movie industry and the government Rizvi would like the government to play a more optimistic role in the movie industry. He exclusively blames General Zia ul Haq for the destruction of the movie industry in Pakistan because of his outlook towards it. Rizvi attempted to open the lines of communication between himself and the General to try and discuss the movie industry as well as art.
